Newbies, beginners, and regulars who fail at the search function: post your questions here.

READ the FAQ & Tools threads before asking a question. Your question may be answered there!

What to post:
-Any general questions about STT/SNGs, ICM, sample sizes, etc., that are not answered in the FAQ.
-Specific bankroll management questions
-Questions about moving up
-Very basic hands that you might think are so "stupid" you don't want to post them on the forum(hand posting rules apply).
-Basic software questions that can get you a quick answer you need
-Other general questions the relate to SNGs/poker, just no story telling & BBV.

Rules:
-Do not turn this into BBV or this will be a short-lived thread
-Do not post your graphs or stats if someone asks for attainable ROIs that aren't answered in the FAQ. Give them your best guess or an answer with substantive data.
-Do not turn this into general discussion. Continuing discussion & enjoyment is encouraged but not at the expense of ruining the thread's theme with general nonsense.
-ALL FAQ posting rules do APPLY!

-If you start a new thread to ask a beginner question it will be moved here and you'll get a warning.
-If you troll a question here you will get a warning. Do it again you'll get an infraction or worse.

I imagine some questions will develop nice little discussions. In that case I'll move the relevant posts to their own thread.

Regulars, feel free to contribute as much or as little you like, but again: trolling=punishment.

I started off not using a HUD for these games cause i thought one wouldn't get enough of a sample size for it to be effective. however, the more i play against reverse grinders (reg losing players), the more i want to start using one.
does anyone who play these superturbo or hyper turbos use a HUD. If so, how do you configure it? Do you find the clutter to be worth the info???

Two very similar situations in my eyes. Tried tweaking with the stack sizes and ranges a bit but nothing makes very big of a difference. Is it the number of players or is it just a little bit from everything? I'm very confused x__X

stack sizes

look at your equity when you are called and lose

also in #1 the big stack has folded

6 players vs 5 players does make a diff, but stack arrangement here is big

I guess it's the folding of the big stack + 1 less player because in the second situation I tried changing all of the stack sized to 1000 while making mine 3000 and the push range doesn't move up even %10.

and eff. stacksizes. you are pushing only 6bb in #1 and 10bb in number 2.

would it be crazy to think i have a small shot at winning a seat at the main event with a $200-300 investment and starting at step 1 on pokerstars? I mean I've seen that cake has a step system for a 2k wsop prelim event but I feel like the structure is horrible compared to the ME (which is the sickest structure and is a tourny I want to play so bad in the future even tho im a college student). I mean losing $200 or $300 isnt a big deal for me but I really want to win a seat to the main event.

While I'm mostly a tourney player, ive been grinding sngs a lot lately.
I'd probably give my push/fold game an A- (good but not perfect)
Got table ninja and a nice roll for the stakes im playing (18man turbos)

I feel most comfortable when im 10 tabling. Usually keep 4 tables on the left monitor and 6 on the right. I want to get in more volume but idk how best to do this.

How many tables do you play and what kind of setup do you use (stack, cascade etc)
Any tips?

Much abliged

Stacking makes playing more tables much easier, you could easily replace time spent moving back and forth between 2 monitors with another table or 2. Next time read the FAQ / use the search feature there's been infinite discussions of this subject

You have a 3% shot.

Playing the main event isn't as fun as you might think by the way.

why not? Its the biggest tourny imo. I can imagine playing the whole day is a grind tho but thats what i live for.

JK,

you know that you don't HAVE to play the ME if you qualify through PS? If losing 200-300 bucks doesn't mean a lot to you, lets see how you feel after losing 10k.

And +1 to Dan.

Hi guys

I have been playing poker for some years now, and i feel i am rdy to take it to the next lvl, as i have gained experience to play 9 tables og stt sng with 9 players, at the stakes up to 25$ with an average roi above 10%, and now i wanna get more in depth with my stats, to find my leaks and improve my game, to get higher than 25$.

So here comes my question, what program is best for this when i play sngs, i oocasionally aslo play some cash games, shorthanded and hu, but im mostly a sng man. So what program would u recomend for me?

A must is that it can display the apropriate stats(raise/fold percents, their overall profit, and stuff like that) right on the table, so i dont have to look elsewhere.

I hope you can give me some good advide.

Thx

P.S i dont need comments like "pokertracker rocks!", more detailed reviews please

Holdem and pokertracker both have trials so your best finding out for yourself.

Both have customisable HUDs and you can display whichever stats you want.

Sharkscope HUD is prohibited on most (all?) sites, so it's not worth investing money into something could get you banned.

HEM and PT3 both have trial versions and i'd say you are best of checking them out for at least a week each and then decide which one you like best.
Personally I prefer HEM, partly because I had a bad experience with PT3 (lagged a lot, unstable, etc.), but that was PT3 v3 iirc and they are now at v5, so it might be better now.

Yes but the main event's structure is sick nasty. And I feel like its worth a 10k shot at hitting a million dollar score. I mean look at joe cada and jerry yang. Didnt play amazing final tables but got lucky and won. Anyone can win the main event imo but being a halfway decent player improves your chances. Yes I agree tho that 10k is a lot and I would rather play $200-$500 events where I wouldnt be screwed if I didn't cash in 1 tourny.

I don't know your usual stakes, so not sure what to think about your statements.

Sorry if this have been discussed before, i did some search and no luck

Did you find some more profitable ways to spend the FPPs than the bonuses??
I have played some satellites and unregister from the tourney (ex Sunday 1/4 million 70FPPs, giving 11 tourney $)

i'm grinding the 6.5s (will take some shots at the 16$) so i dont get too many PFFs per week, hopefully i'll end up as a Goldstar next month

what do you recommend? how do you profit your FPPs??

ty guys

plz dont recommend fruit baskets or other stupid items from the vip store

You can't use concierge so probably the 5400 fpp sats, just avoid the regs.

I was not really asking how to use a HUD. I am quite familiar with the HEM software have ample experience with it in regular speed SNGs. My previous post was questioning HEM's HUD effectiveness in Superturbo/hyperturbo games (if any). As im sure you already know, superturbo/hyperturbos are quite different and thus you would have to configure HEM correspondingly. Therefore I was hoping to hear others opinions about the subject of its usage in this particular situation because I thought that was what the 2p2 forums were for... ty and gl

Why does HUD need to be configured very differently from a regular SNG? Use the HUD recommendations from the HUD discussion thread in the Tools thread for what's already been posted:
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/36...e-sngs-422576/

Get more specific, I'm not understanding what you're after, but I don't play super turbos
