I am looking for a study partner/partners for 9man regular speed SNG. I am playing poker to learn the game, to play the game of poker not focus on maximum $/h.

I have been playing poker semi seriously for a year or two online, reading books and occasionally live and I would like to start taking SNG’s seriously in an effort to really learn the game and build up a BR for whatever I want to do next.

Right now I have cut back to one or two tables at a time and I am really trying to focus on doing the best I can on a few tables even though I may be able to make more $/h playing more tables. For me this is a journey to learn poker not learn to make maximum $$$ per day may determining how many tables I can play effectively maximize hourly rate.

Right now I am still pretty basic and am trying to forget what I think I know and start from scratch. I play on stars at $1.50 SNG and will move up as my BR and skills allow.

I am looking for people to join me who are dedicated to putting in time. It does not have to be hours and hours per day but a weekly commitment to playing and reviewing games, identifying weak areas and learning to teach each other to fix our leaks.

I apologize if I’m starting to ramble, I’m sure you get the point. Please PM me if you are interested.

Thanks

I'm playing 3.50 turbos on Stars and I'm falling apart. It seems the more strategy articles I read, the worse I'm doing. Either I'm too nitty in the early/mid stages, or when I do become aggressive I get beat anyway, even when I follow the push/fold chart. I'm bubbling so damn often. I'm also having trouble putting people on ranges, especially without history. I need all the help I can get.

What push/fold "chart" are you talking about? Maybe you are playing for chips instead of money, which is a big no-no in SNGs.

You should be pushing way deeper than 10 BBs, at least at times. And it does appear that those are just chip EV shoves.

I mean I guess it's a better starting point than guessing, but it's not nearly enough in 2015.

Try out holdem resources calculator if you want to actually get good. They have a free two week trial. And that's just the push/fold aspect. Obviously we have to worry about starting hands, three betting, restealing, postflop, etc etc

Hey guys I'd really like to discuss game selection in depth with someone else who is knowledgeable. I have some experience in turbos, reg speeds, 6 max, 9 mans, 18 mans, 180 mans, on peak, off peak, 5050s, etc etc. Mostly around the ~$15 level, sometimes higher. I have a feel for better games to play but it's tough to know for sure since you can't develop big, recent sample sizes in each format.

PM me to discuss, thanks.

Hi guys what stakes you play?

I'm currently at the $3 9mans looking to move up to $5 soon. So could use a study group

Also quick question for those of you that play higher stakes how big would you say the skill jump is from $3 > $10?
