So I was a regular contributor in this subforum 13-15 years ago. I gave some effort to make sure I activated my old account, but I don't see any of my old posts or threads. That's fine.

But my poker story (shortly) is this: I ****ing rocked STT in those days, and did well in MTT (****--I'm not sure that's the acronym) as well. When everything dried up, I moved on. I had a business. But I recently sold that business, and have been playing live more and particularly in a couple home cash games that are lucrative with a bunch of rich dudes who seemingly love to give money to me.

I miss the OLDDD days now of online STT play. And it's coming to Pennsylvania where I live, and I've sold my business, so I'm ready to get back in.

My question is superficially dumb, naive, and newb. I don't want to ask you for new links or ideas on STT, or MTT, but I want to ask players who waded through all this from back-in-my-day, "WHAT HAS CHANGED?"

I mean, I've continued to play, but what is different? Is the stop-n-go dead as a tactic? Is overpushing considered obvious now? In STT, has the hand range opened up? Anything, just a morsel, of information about how online poker was played then until now would be appreciated.

Also, if anybody is still around from that timeframe, fist bump and let me knw. I don't remember anyone's name.

Welcome back!

I guess it being so long ago, you could find your old stuff in the archives.

As far as what has changed, mostly you can expect a lot more regs. The overall gameplay is better, especially in the higher stakes. There is a lot of talk of GTO (Game Theory Optimum) play, so some stuff sure has changed. But its I guess rather subtle.

Most things you know from back then will still work. You will have to adjust, thats for sure. But I wouldnt worry too much. If you have the cash you might want to consider getting a coach to look through your game. Thats probably the best approach.

Thanks. I'm going to start small, with a limited number of games at once, and work my way up pretending I'm brand new as I was in 03. Coach is a definite possibility, as I'm sure that things have changed enough in other's games that there's info I need.

One concern of mine will be the number of games. I think there may be three or four sites going live in PA soon. But it's just PA. It's what, just under 4% of the US population? The old sites were worldwide. So finding enough games seems like it may be a problem.

Cant tell you about that as I dont live in the US. But one trick would be to play multiple buy-ins and multiple formats.
