Hero (BB): 28.74 BB
BTN: 60.11 BB (VPIP: 58.82, PFR: 25.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 17)
SB: 23.65 BB (VPIP: 26.53, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 49)

3 players post ante of 0.13 BB, SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.87 BB) Hero has A T

BTN raises to 2.5 BB, fold, Hero ???

Should I 3bet here?

In this spot, you want to have a very polar non-allin 3b range to like 8bb. You also want to have a 3b shoving range and ofc you will call or fold the rest of your hands.

This hand goes into the 3b shoving range vs most opponents. It is too strong to just flat pre, but too weak to induce IP flatcalls or 4bets.

If your going to post a hand concerning 3 handed play you need to say if its 9 man or 6 man. Your icm tax on running into better AX here is much higher in a 6max. 9 man I think a shove would be +EV but in a 6 max where you have a smaller stack who has never raised in 50 hands I would look for better spots.

URagnatha BTN (58/25/17 hands) was the raiser.

Other than that I agree with the above.

yes I mean regarding table dynamics. meaning with such a passive player we can let go some mild + ev plays and mild -EV plays are a greater error.

if this is 6 max im never 3 bet shoving here.

My mistake, you have a great point. If BTN doesnt up his aggression this is indeed a very soft table.

Assuming this is 6 max, what range would you expect BTN to open and what range would you expect him to call our 29bb shove?

OOOOH this is an interesting. Do mind elaborating slightly on the whole imc tax notion concerning 9 max vs 6 max. i think i know what you mean here but im not completely sure.

Do you not think it’s a few too many chips to risk for the reward?

I like the highly polarised line, but is it not better to flat pre, and fold flops that don’t have A or T or strong draws? You’ll still have more chips than 3rd place.

If it is 9max, I’m more inclined to have 3bet shove range.

ok im sorry? is this a genuine question or you ribbing me I will of course explain in some detail. don't want to spend 20 mins if your ribbing me lol.

may be your genuine and it only seams apparent to me because ive played both formats and have hrc telling me quantativly +EV plays when its push/fold making me seam a lot better then I am lol.

I suppose this wouldn't of been apparent to me a few years ago. so if your genuine I apologize.
