Help!!!!! Crossroads dilema !!! Help!!!!! Crossroads dilema !!!

Hi im ryan been playing poker for several years now or should i say donating to the wonderful game . Id like to think ive been improving over time even tho sometimes i do feel as if i played better before i knew certain things but i think that is more to do with applying the right stratergies at the right time . Recently i have given up my day job to look after our son as my wife has landed a good job working from home but this now means im not able to donate to all at pokerstars at the same rate i was .. what i have done tho since the end of august ive started to grind sit n goes i started with a bankroll of $10 an built it up to $800 where it sits now i have been quite strict with the bankroll but it has lapst a few times going in tourneys or going in the odd sit n go i know i shouldnt . Where im at now tho is a bit of a crossroads as to what to do to take this to the next step wheather that be coachin ,study group or as im doing reaching out on forums . At the 3.50 sng i was very comfatable an felt like i was a winner i then moved up to $7 which i thought were a lot tougher but while i was there i took a couple of shots at 15 and think i may have got very lucky with table selection and won those so then moved up . Ive been trying to get some volume in but the players here are much tougher i thought and dont seem to make many mistakes you can still get a lot of good games but during the day and sometimes evening u will find the likes of sippin criss bassajax and hellrazor kk at all tables who all have great results and most likely know a lot more than me . The crossroads for me is weather i should try and compete with these guys to try an get my volume up an just be glad when i do get good tables ? Or select my tables more but obv volume will be loads less alternatilvy i could maybe drop down stakes to where i felt like i had a n edge and try to put more volume in there .. i do struggle to play more than 4 tables at once tho so even dropping down i dont think i can put in enough volume .. sorry for the long essay thanks to anyone that is still reading an would love some advice off anyome that might be able to help thank you ..

Short story about Sippin_Criss. Back when I started (like 2007, 10 years ago), he was called: "The King of the Donks". What people meant by this was that he was the best player in low stakes games (<20$ SNGs), and back then there were many great winning players at those stakes.

Im telling you this because I want you to know, if you want to compete with these players, you are competing with people who already were strong 10 years ago and if they are still around, they got massively better. The gap between you and a good professional player is going to be huge.

I dont want to discourage you, you seem to have a lot of spirit for the game. And if the choice is you donating some money every month vs you earning some money every month, because you play regardless. Then obviously try getting better and become a winning player. Just be aware it will be a lot of work and will probably take longer than you expect.

To answer your questions properly I would need more input, such as what is your goal with poker. How is your financal situation, how much time could you put into getting better...

As far as your question on forum, coach or study group goes. Good poker players have usually done all 3 and most still do. There is also a 4th essential part which would be, to get some programms and study on your own. You can do all 4 at the same time.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the reply buddy very ineresting indeed i knew he had been around a while i saw that he has done some videos for card runner i think and his results spoke for themselves. i came across a post of his on here yesterday telling his story i think he had a bit of a bad run not long ago and has now got right back into it or at least is trying to so its bad timing on my part. Been on stars today and yesterday and the games have been pretty decent with a couple of poor players per table. i also havnt seen the regs i mentioned, have seen a couple of others but not those i mentioned maybe i scared them off Help!!!!! Crossroads dilema !!! . Think im going to try to delegate my time a lot better over the next few weeks try and do at least 4hrs at the tables and 1 hr studyin or goin over hands to see where i am at the end of next month. As for my finacncial situation if i was to go bust i would have to start from the begining again with like a 20$ deposit so im not looking on being reckless and also if i did go bust with good bankroll management then there is obv some serious leaks in my game that would need addressing first . As for what i want from poker - id love to play proffesionaly drawing a wage off every month. that would be heaven to me but i know it takes a lot of hard work and dedication but for me right now i have the perfect opportunity to try as i dont need to draw any money out and i also have 5 hrs a day spare so why not try an make something of what i love . At the end of your message you mention something about getting programms and studying , what did you mean by that ?
Ps do you play professionally if so what do you play and what does a day in your life look like ?
Thanks again

Hi. Just check you out on Sharkscope.
You've made over $700 in less than 1800 games this year. To compare to Sippin Crisis, He's played 11,000 games, his avg buy in is $14. He's up $20K. His ITM 35.6% and he plays an average of 44 games per day. You're ITM is 34.8% playing an average of 9 games per day.
From those stats it doesn't look like you're a million miles away from you're goal. So with 5 hours for poker each day, you should be able to match his 44 game average and still have a bit of time for study and forums etc. If you were to maintain you're current form and average buy, and just increase your average games per day to 44, playing 5 days a week for a year, you would increase your bankroll by $4700.
To be fair 1800 games is a pretty small sample size but it's still a decent indication of where you're at. Seems like you just need to put in the time. GL

Hey man thanks for the reply buddy . 1 slight problem i defo do have Is i seem to go off the rails every now and then and spew my bankroll and i dont think he does that lol That being said ive nipped it in bud b4 i lose it all this time working on my game a bit also got some hours in with a coach the last few weeks so i now see a good few leaks i have .. I was struggling to play more than a couple of tables at one time expecially when it got short handed so ive been doing some work with icmizer to get my push/call ranges a lot better to ease the thinkinh involved at these stages and hopefully be able to build on tables and get the volume in .
