I'm sure this has been covered but what stats do you use for your HUD when playing SNGs?

Ive gone 2 years without using HUD and have been fairly successful... does HUD make a huge diff?

The main 4 with SNGs are VPIP, PFR, Aggression Factor, and Hand #. Some people like to add in Defend Blinds/Fold BB to steal and Attempt to Steal.

It's all about what you can fit efficiently and effectively while playing your desired # of tables. The drop down boxes work great for having other key stats that you don't need on the screen at all times. Obviously you can get pretty creative and do more if you don't play a lot of tables.

PSA: I'll let this thread go for a little while so it can be FAQ worthy, so don't derail please.

I've also recently added "Fold 2 flop bet" but it may not be necessary based on you processing info from the standard 3 selections TFG mentioned

I use

Line1: PlayerName
Line2: VPIP / PFR / AGGF / Hands
Line3: BB fold to steal / SB steal / Fold to flop C-bet

I use seperate panels in HEM so that I can move the PlayerName line from the HUD over the players name in the poker client. Having name in the HUD may seem superfluous but HEM has a nice feature that lets you color-code the player name according to how many big blinds they have in their stack. This is very helpful for multi-tabling.

I personally think it probably improves my ROI by at least 1-2% so if it will pay off. I use it mostly for spotting which players are really good. If I see I have 1000 hands on a guy who is 14/9, i'm probably not trying to get to too many show downs with him. I play Micro's though since I get a very good ROI at them. I use VPIP, PFR, AF, and Fold to CBET. Although really only focus on the first two. But the main thing for me is to see who the other sharks are as soon as I sit down, I can maybe point out a few. I also prioritize the tables I play on, (not sure if that's a good idea) but naturally when I see I have hands on 7 players at a table already, I'm a little more pessimistic about my chances of winning, because they are generally better. So I devote my time to other tables

I've tinkered a lot with my HUD, but I try to limit it to things I'll actually look at and can interpret quickly:

Line 1: VP$IP/PFR/3-bet
Line 2: Steal/Hands
Line 3: SB Steal/Btn Steal
Line 4: CO Steal/Limp SB

You can make a pretty good argument for c-bet stats, but I found they pretty much were in line w/ preflop stats esp. in SNG's, i.e. tight preflop players don't suddenly become LAG postflop. They also take a long, long time to get significant.

I keep 3-bet even though I don't use it much other than to identify early game nutballs quickly.

I like having all the steal stats up because I don't think VP$IP/PFR tells the whole story and it's nice to know how a player weights his steals by position. I'd honestly rather have steal stats than VP$IP/PFR/AF if I had to choose.

Limp SB is pretty valuable for BB play and varies widely, even between otherwise good players.

Filter for players at 2-3/4-5/6-10. Don't like to overlap, but i can see why people would.

Using:

Line1: VPIP / PFR / AGGF
Line2: Call PRF %/ Hands / Call Flop Cbet

Also on Hands have color ranges:

0-400 - Gray
401-99999 - Shiny Green

This help me even on small tables to be albe easy to see with whom I played enough.

All the best,
Tsvetelin

I don't like a lot of crap on my screen, so I just stick to VPIP/PFR and # of hands.

I use my laptop when I play and the screen is 15". I stack my tables and tile them as they get 4 handed and the tables are really small so I can't have a lot of stats on each player or it covers up the cards and bets. When I get a bigger screen I feel like I'm going to get all the steal stats on there. I have just the VPIP and PFR and #hands on there now.

Same here. But I added BetFlop and FoldFlop

So: VPIP/PFR
BF/FF/Hands

You can edit the text to shorten as needed so it fits better.

Mine looks like
VP:X PR:x
BF:x FF:x Hx

Fits easily on all platforms and is color-coded for instant recognition.

Name
VPIP/PFR/AF/Hands
CBet/FTCbet

I also use the 3 bet stat whenever I get 3 bet but I use the drop down for it cos generally don't get 3 bet much (unless it's a 3 bet shove, in which case I generally don't use the stat).

HUD definitely doesn't make a huge difference, note taking can be just as effective, I just use a HUD as well since it gives reads on people who only play every now and then.

how do you guys filter your stats? is there much of a reason to do it at the lower buyins?

Besides VPIP/PFR/AF and # of hands I like to check out fold SB/BB to steal for the 2 players on my immediate left to help determine how safe it is to steal their blinds or how aggressively they defend their blinds. Aslo fold to flop bet may help with cbetting vs villains.

Is the "Steal from SB" an option on PT3, or just in HEM?

Oh yeah, I use Hands/VPIP/PFR/AF/3-bet % all in one line.

PLAYER/HANDS
VPIP/PFR/AF
FFB/SBLIMP/SBSTEAL

Also these are filtered for number of players in the game.
I only play 8 table's and find it helps alot, i think if your playing 12+ and stacking your tables's a hud is probably a must if you want any sort of reads which might help with plays ingame.
In HEM you can also adjust the color's of your stats and set them to change if villain is tight/loose etc.

no.

16 continuous, occasionally 25 noncontinuous works fine for me tiled on my 19" without HUD.i may eek out 1,2% maybe with, but i wont try.

*vote for nonsoftwarebased multitabling*
so youre not alone at least.im playing micros up to 16$ but i doubt playing higher makes it a real necessity until the 60s maybe.but well, then its probably time to drop # of tables and get some notes.

Oh yeah I filter by number of players at the table (obviously important) and I think by blind level (if you untick "Include hands from other limits" in HEM does this work for SNGs as well?)

I have 3 lines

Name(this is color coded based on # of BBs the player has)
VPIP/PFR/AGF/Hands
Steal/SBsteal/BUsteal/SBlimp

Nearly everything is color coded so i can more just glance at the color than have to look closely at the numbers.

I also filter like this:
2: 2-3
3: 3-4
4: 4-5
5: 4-6
6: 5-7
7: 6-10
8: 7-10
9: 7-10
10: 7-10

I'll reiterate that I think the steal stats are pretty important, but if you're not into actually interpreting anything, they might be kind of confusing. That is why we play SNG's, right?

name / #hands
vpip / pfr / agg /
cc / 3bet / fold to cb
(filtered once it gets to bubble)

The HUD for me is more for spotting super nits and maniacs, but I try not to assume someone is a 'good' player just because they have 'good stats'.
I'll also pause for a second, and look at the according stat if a decision is in the air for me.

I personally like having a HUD and think it definitely adds to my profitability, but I can also see how it can actually be -EV for people -- not the hud itself but people misusing it -- so be careful.

theres not many regs at the stakes i play at so i often find myself fivehanded with maybe 8 hands to look at with the stats filtered.

think id be better off widening the filter a little bit to have more stats to go on? or do the levels play differently enough at the 6.50s to justify a tighter filter?

also, does HEM make a difference between SNG and cash stats?

How do you make FTP sngs import into PT3. I am about to get it all setup.

I use the Poker Tracker hud yesterday for the first time and I didn't like it at all. I was multi-tabling 6 tables and it was just too hard to read it all. Is there a better HUD than this that will look okay when multi-tabling on a 17" monitor?

Thanks.
