Hi all,

I'm new to this 2+2 site, it was recommended to me elsewhere.

Anyway, I've recently deposited on PartyPoker and have been studying poker theory daily. I'm currently into DYM games (i started with Spin & Go games but I got frustrated with suckouts and variance). I'm willing to count my first bankroll as lost money, I'm just looking to build experience first. I'm currently at about break even, I've only played about 6 so far.

My primary concern is with my strategy over all stages of the tournament. I'm pretty happy with my current game in the early stages but I begin to crumble a little around the bubble, usually because most players seem to get to 5-10BB and then adopt push/fold strategies. Now obviously this is understandable and doesn't scare me; what does scare me is when super tight players wait to do this and then I have something like 99-QQ, A-7o+.

I really tighten up because I'm looking at ICM considerations and if I call and get crushed or sucked out on then I'll be in a losing position. To me, folding those good hands (bordering on premiums) is the better play as I can conserve my position. My strategy is to allow others to get involved with the short stack.

Any advice? Thanks in advance guys, looking forward to your own experiences and suggestions.

Study with a program like ICMizer. It has pre built quizzes that will run you through spots. If people call too wide you should narrow your jam ranges a little but you almost never should be widening your call ranges.

Thanks Thrash,

I've been looking through ICM calculations and programs like equilab which I find very helpful. Yeah I've really had great success so far, cashed about 8/10 so far at min-stakes against players who are very standard, inelastic and exploitable. Hopefully I'll get to the point where I can grind the £11/22/55 DYM games in the future.

Cheers again man, greatly appreciated, best of luck in your game and have a great Christmas!
