Hey man,

Is this a 6m or 9m game? Any reads on villain? Can you offer up some of your own thoughts?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, it was a 6-max Turbo which I'm planning to do a lot of in the next month.

I was scared of him having an Ace with a bigger kicker so I thought it might be best me to fold as I would struggle to check call the turn

I'm trying to study poker but having a hard time in what I should try and improve on first. ICM etc.

Any reads on villain? Trying to figure out what his potential 3betting tendencies would be, or if he was a passive opponent who was capable of flatting a hand like AT with the chiplead here. What hand would you need before you were no longer afraid? Why didn't you consider calling?

You've been on 2p2 for over 4 years, I'd recommend just starting somewhere. Get an ICM program and rip all your shove/call hands in there and see where the gaps in your understanding are and why they are there. You're going to do a lot of dumb and bad things to start off but the dumbest and baddest thing is to not start.

Keep posting hands here, google/youtube some postflop analysis tools and see what looks good to you. Coaching could be a consideration as well as a coach can quickly spot your leaks and guide you down a clearer path.

@McKrogh Its probably somewhat close, but I dont quite see why you should check? You can get 2 value bets from Kings and/or draws. If he hits something like a J he has 3rd pair.

@heavymetal If you use a HUD you should have the option to mark your hands. If you want to spend the time, mark any hand, everytime you are unsure. And then go through them. Also what Sippin said.

Preflop, theoretically I don't think you should have many hands that use a non all in raise size with this 3 handed bubble icm. If you do decide to construct one, I think they should use a larger size (about 3-4x the blind) and the range should mostly consist of premium hands, along with some random hands at a low frequency for board coverage.

I think the vast majority of your range here should either be a shove or fold, however, if this is low stakes which I'm assuming it is, you're probably safe to raise or limp a bit more as the population probably sucks at exploiting it. Just be aware if you raise this size with a lot of hands you would get annihilated by someone with a good understanding of this situation. The bb can defend a lot of hands, and can 3bet a lot too.

Hard to comment on flop as it depends on your preflop range a lot, betting that board at a high frequency should be good though, and you can't fold to a min raise there.

Even considering the ICM implications? Threehanded this is surely an ICM spot where Hero is caged in between a big stack and a small stack.

Can't jam for 20BB here due to the ICM spot, so that's out of the question.
Can't really raise pre here, because you only invite villain to jam light to pick up 425 chips and cage you due to the SB stack.
I'd probably limp/stab most flops.
Also think Hero's flop CB is fine, as played. Would probably CB 1/3 instead of 1/2. Hero definitely bets a lot of air on this flop so should balance with a bet here as well, checking only looks more suspicious. The only benefit is pot controlling, but that's not big enough of a factor in my opinion.

As played, call flop. Some more info would be nice indeed. Probably pretty player dependent how to proceed.
