hello guys, im totally cash players online and live and i am trying to learn tournment before i study i want to ask few questions.

1. what is optimal theory or play on tournment?
give improper odds to opponents? or take down the pot immediately is important?

2. i think on tournment, people use small bet sizing compared to cash game. i am just curious why?

3. in cash i usually 3b in position 3x and oop 4x on preflop. i think on tournment, people use smaller size bet. how much 3b on preflop on tournment?

Q1 is a bit too general to answer.

Q2/3 are largely a result of smaller stacks. Most online tournaments you will be somewhere between 20-40bb.

Main difference between the two is obviously ICM, and understand population range tendency

these questions are infinitely too vague.

Crazy vague. Ask a specific question and then when you understand the answer ask another.

I guess optimal strategy in a tournament will be similar to cash - try and play each and every hand as well as possible.

There is no magical formula.

First, realise that due to the payout-structure, chips arent worth equally as much. Usually chips won are worth less, than chips lost. We got a formula, we call it ICM to calculate this. Sometimes some people call it "Bias against confrontation".

If you understand this concept, you might already be able to answer your questions yourself partly.

As this is one of the reasons for smaller bet/raise-sizes, your opponents need stronger hands to enter the pot to beginn with, hence you can lower the bet-size. Another one would be the usually smaller stacksizes, so even if you just minraise and get one caller, you can still be all-in with a bet/bet/bet line by river.

There are more factors, but in short it is a combination of maths indicating that its the proper play and player tendencies. For example in 9man-turbos it used to be standard for many regs to play less than 10% of their hands, making min-raises from mid-position onwards insta-profit moves (assuming you dont spew postflop).
