bad call? bad call?

edit: oops, i should've titled it "bad shove?"

i can't seem to find the hand history, as i'm on ACR, but my question goes as follows. we were pretty deep in the tourny, about 40 people left. i know nothing about him nor the others at the table.

Me UTG, raise 2x blinds
+1 fold
+2 fold
+3 raises about 2.5x
rest of the table folds and it goes back to me.
i shove for about 2/3 his stack, he calls, not folding.
I show AKo, he shows TT and he wins the runout.

is this a bad time to get it in with AK? should i have waited for a better spot? i know i have fold equity but i'm thinking maybe it wasn't enough... we were deep in the tourny, and my range of hands i put him on were either pocket pairs, AK, or AQs. in this case, i basically should have folded AK, or at least call to see the flop... flipping so late in tournies i guess is always a bad idea, so even if i have AK, i should fold it in situations like that, right?
