6 Max SnG Wizard question 6 Max SnG Wizard question

Wasup playaz!

I was playing around with sng wizard and I've noticed a weird trend.
When Im on SB it says I should almost always push 100% with 10bb, and I think it's reasonable.
But today Ive stumbled upon a super strange result: 6 players in, 20/40/5 blinds
Im on SB with 20bb and guess what? It says it's profitable to push 100% again.

I've set the right tag for this game (6 max pacific sng (65/35). Are there other settings I've missed? What kind of wizardry is it?

depends on the calling range you give to the player in the BB. If this range is a tight enough you can shove any2.

1. If BB only has 10bbs, your effective shove is only 10bbs, not 20.

2. It depends on the respective ranges. It seems to me you are using default ranges and dont adjust them yourself. It also appears as that SNGwiz assumes (corrctly) that your opponent will call tighter with 20bbs than with 10, thus you can still end up shoving 100% profitably.

Yea dude, I meant 20bb effective stacks. Im playing $5 sngs, so ranges that wizard suggests are even looser than reality in my opinion. In the 6max HU situation it suggest that I can push 91% hands profitably (20bb effective) against 14.8% range (A8o+ A3s+ KTs 33+) which I think is quite wide for these stacks.
Im curious what is your experience of calling ranges in such spots. P.s. I understands that the push isn't the only option here

I dont shove 20bbs often. Ranges depend on the respective players.

all i can say, is that when someone is shoving 20bb bvb i am calling wider then 14.8%.

Players adjust.

Adjusting to someone ripping 100% BvB is the simplest adjustment to make because we can very quickly work out exactly what their push range is. Probably you have a reasonable push range at the moment and you get called accordingly, Don't expect to get called with the same range if you start jamming 23o.

Also, obv situation dependent, but shoving 100% with 10bb BvB is often terrible too, study nash ranges and adjust exploitively from there.

I have no idea about the calling ranges of pacific poker 6m population at a secret buy-in level, but jamming 20bb bvb with a wide range is a really bad approach at all stakes. You can do FAR better by having a mr, limp and jamming range in these, not necessarily a folding range tho.

Then why would you want to?
Having weak Ax and low pp in an openjamming range in these spots is good, openjamming say K7o or 95s while likely (if your assumptions about their calling ranges are correct) better than openfolding is trololol, there are way better things to do. Ppl make huge mistakes postflop, better profit from it
