I struggle to understand this spot. I know intuition is often misleading but sometimes you really feel you understand a situation and sometimes you're just lost.

Can anyone explain why calling so wide here is correct? The big stack is getting a good price and would have to call pretty wide and next hand we are on the button.

If we fold we would be left with 2.5bb and would not be in a situation where the big blind would have to call our shove with any two (he could call 79% if he is calling correctly, so we still have some fold equity).

ICIMIZER 2 is a tool very good tool but you cant play exactly like that..change your range
depending on the situation, field tendecies in that games and stats of the villians..

I would push. What about if big stack calls and lose the hand?

The key point here is that you cover the btn in a very shallow spot where bb will almost overcall.

The situation you describe where you fold and play another hand is a disaster.

^ To add to the above - OP remember if BB calls and wins, you still get 2nd place even if your hand is not better than BU.

What payouts are you using? When I put this in HRC with 65-35 payouts and FGS2 I don't get the same ranges, though the rough shape is still the same with us calling far more hands than he's jamming. (BU 28.5% we overjam 53.5% and BB calls 50.5%.)

As this is a "tactics-heavy" spot (i.e. sitting waiting for each other to blind off, who's next on the button etc), it's worth looking as deep as your computer can do. Under FGS5 I get the BU pushing a full 10% wider at 38.4% for example, but despite this the ranges to call him are much narrower.

This was very informative, thank you. I was aware of the dynamics of my stack being bigger, it's just that I wasn't actually used to call so wide in such spots, so that will definitely be an adjustment worth making. The 65 chip advantage makes a massive difference. If we cover villain, we can call 66% and if he covers us, it changes to 10%. I mean it makes perfect sense, I just wasn't used to applying it.

I'm using a 70%/30% payout structure, hence the even wider calling ranges.
