Here's the scenario that's been breaking my head a bit:

We are 3 left out of a 2k field, KO tourney.

1st and 2nd payout are very flat - something like 3.2k and 3.5k (+ bounties). 3rd payout is around 1.8k. So huge ICM moment as it doesn't matter so much between first and second, but between 3rd and 2nd it's very relevant.

Hero has 17BB, to our left a 60BB stack and to his left a 10BB stack.

60BB stack is playing appropiately and bullying me savagely, as he should.

We will just tighten up hardcore and try to outlive the shorter stack.

How tight do we go as long as 10BB player is still on? What range would you open/call (he's gonna reshove on us 90% of the time) - shove? TT+ AQs+? Tighter?

It's such a funky structure I'm just not sure..

Hardcore tightening.

No minraise as you'd just gift the chiplead your money. I'd go with limps or shove.
Probably shoving right away 88-JJ, AJs, AQo, AKo. Limp-calling AA-QQ, AQs, AKs. Limp-folding 77, KQs, KJs.

Something like that. To be clear, the weaker part of this range are my 'bluffs' vs chiplead but they are probably good enough to call a shove from the minstack and hunt his bounty.

Thougts?

Depends the values of the bounties on all your heads as this will determine how flat the difference between 1 and 2 is, seeing as 1st wins the bounties it Is very much relevant.

It's a bounty question. Not a payout question.

Winning first place should double your bounties as therotically you are knocking out a guy with half the bounties.

If bounties are evenly distributed, you need to target short stack. If you have all the bounties, just fold.

If short stack has all the bounties, you have to get in three way when the chip leader is raising.

If the chip leader has all the bounties, try to get heads up and win there.

It's interesting ICM but I need value of all three players bounties to properly answer.

Also depends how aggressive/soft chip leader is playing v the short stack

I think you cannot bet too tight. Basically 3-handed you have to win it, because cap between 1 and 2 can be huge. More open shoves, more 3bet shoves against bullying stack

Good points! Chip leader bounty is at around 850, while mine is at around 650 and small stack at around 450.

Chip leader is as aggressive as he can get, shoving nearly everything

I think 7's +, any suited ace and any two paint need to gamble with.
