Its hard getting used to a ridged schedule though. I definitely miss making my own hours and taking off whenever I wanted/needed. I also make lots less, but that was always going to be the case for me if I had to get a job.

All in all I can't complain. Everyone is reasonably healthy and happy and have what they need and some of what they want.
"ridged schedule"

Lacky spelling errors bring me back

I would hope they have better food and less problems with suicide at a military base but don't know.
A guy I worked with was in prison for 5 1/2 years and from his description it, other than just generally being locked up, the worst thing was the food.

I've worked at places with very good catered food and you still got sick of the same 20 meals or so after a few months. I can't imagine eating the same ****ty meals for 5 years.

The food mostly sucks. The bakery at our prison is good, so all the bread is as good as I'd buy at the store (but they tell me it is awful at the prison next door). Most of the rest isn't. I like 3 or 4 of the main courses, some others are so-so, some I just eat the bread. They average a little under $1 a meal, so the kitchen does the best they can with what they have to work with. We get the meal when we have to work overtime and do a 12 hour shift, 2-4 times a month.

I'm really digging the live WSOP coverage. Which probably means I'm the only one watching since anything I like usually gets dismal ratings.

I came here to post the same. I literally haven't played a single hand of poker in 3 years. Don't miss it but seeing this coverage makes me want to play.

Then seeing a guy like Chino Rheem makes me glad I don't play.

Raptor FTed. Manchild I think. Probably forgetting some more.

If you've been around long enough you can count Greg Raymer as one of us.
07-19-2017 , 10:07 AM
What was Raymer's name?

Fosssilman

Lacky are you still in Idaho? I'm thinking about driving up to see/photograph the eclipse.
07-20-2017 , 09:57 PM
Yep, still in Idaho. Can't see it from my house. I'll be up in the mountains like everyone else.

If you don't mind dry camping (as in not in an established campground, I assume they have all been reserved) it will be easy to find someplace, as you can camp anywhere on national forest, and it's pretty much all national forest. If I where travelling up for it I would probably pick Stanley, Idaho. About as scenic as it gets, fairly high elevation, and right on the center line for the eclipse.

My family will all be up in Cascade. Not as scenic, and not on the center line, but my dad has a cabin up there so we all tend to gather there and it is still in the total eclipse zone.

Global poker update. My free $2 is sitting at $76. Got as high as $96 before a disastrous move up to .05/.10 crashed me to ~$40. Wasn't much difference in play, just ran bad on a way to small "bankroll" my free $2 represented. I finally feel like I'm playing well, as well as I ever did anyway. Tonight a player shoved the river with the nuts on the board and 2 of 4 players folded to give you an idea of level of play. My plan is to get to $150 before moving up again.

I'd played about a dozen $3 sng's and the play is equally awful. I'm having fun anyway and dreaming of bigger things. None of that has changed. I'm having zero stress though, so that sure has. One advantage of moving slowly is getting used to swings again. I'm swinging a fraction of the amounts I used too, 1% or so, shouldn't even be enough to matter, but it still does. Going slow will let me get used to that again gradually.

The old shove-River-with-nuts-everytime strategy that may have been optimally exploitative against the old Party Poker population tendencies...
07-24-2017 , 11:43 AM
Yeah, very common with the good players, which the bad players copy with over shoving bluffs. I guess wrong sometimes. It helps that I'm starting to know who the good players are. You have to just remember, no hud's or stats

Not counting actual bracelet winners and their deep ME runs either.
