Need a line check. I question multiple things I did in this hand.

Villain was around 38/38 at the time. He had raised first in a little too often. And he had cbet for half pot every single time. Lastly, my read was that he's capable of finding a fold when facing resistance.

PokerStars - 75/150 NL - Holdem - 3 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

Hero (BB): 5,312
BTN: 5,508
SB: 2,680

SB posts SB 75, Hero posts BB 150

Pre Flop: (pot: 225) Hero has T 8

BTN raises to 300, fold, Hero calls 150

Flop: (675, 2 players) Q 9 4
Hero checks, BTN bets 338, Hero raises to 1,050, BTN calls 712

Turn: (2,775, 2 players) J
Hero checks, BTN checks

River: (2,775, 2 players) 5
Hero bets 1,650, BTN calls 1,650

What I do realize is there are multiple ways to defend vs. somebody who's opening and cbetting other than bluff-raising the flop.

I guess another thing is that not continuing OTT is a bit weird on my part and may be questionable as well.

Oh, and if this is a fold pre, please explain. This was a 9max table, btw.

I’m fine with flop I would prob be doing it with a huge % of my continuing range. Turn you need to bet though. Preflop im assuming u only fold like worst 20% of hands and continue with all else?

Thanks, that's helpful.

I guess I defend a bit less than 80% in this spot. But SB was a bad rec and short. So villain OTB and me are the two main contenders for 1st. And game flow was s.t. I wanted to draw a bit of a line.

I agree with your comment that I should have bet turn. Is hero supposed to continue bluffing if he doesn't bink?
