A+ TR. "FU Ben Yu" Heh.

I'm curious about how many hours you play in general and how much coaching you received.

@renodoc

On average, one day a week playing. Andrew’s course involves a set of videos followed by questionnaires which we then talked through. I also email him hands once a month or so and we talk through them, often at some length. Including video time, reference reading, meetings or calls with Andrew and hand analysis, I’ve probably put in a hundred or so hours in the last eighteen months. I also listen to Andrew’s podcast (thinking poker) and the 2p2 pokercast during my commute.

Working on part 3 now. I leave for ten days in Europe on Thursday night and I’m hoping to be done by then.

I think there is some debate about which of the two is better. It’s a little like debating which business school is better as between HBS and Wharton.

I have a general question, not necessarily just for Howard: how do you remember the hands you're writing about?

I play infrequently. A few weekends ago I went up to the casino and played in their tournament. A few hands I'm sure I butchered, and I was thinking, "I want to get 2p2 feedback on this later."

Of course, by the end of the night, I only had some recollection of the hands, and nothing close to important details like stacks/antes/blinds/positions.

Is there some software people use to note key hands or something?

I keep a small notebook with me and occasionally jot down notes. Others I simply remember.

I send myself a cryptic text.

Here's an example: 2lpr, 88hj 15. OMC UTG+1 HU 894r. c/c 25, 4dd size?

Do you mind revealing what you pay for this coaching? You can just PM if you want. I'm getting serious about playing tournaments, specifically seniors events now that I'm in my 50s - and would be interested in doing something like this.

Great read! I just wish you had gotten more TV time. I was really wanting to pull for you on the broadcast.

There is no doubt that I suffered a massive episode of rungood — Lee punting me 260 BB is worth many many pairs of aces preflop.
Once a week is pretty good. There is no way I could manage that, but my kids are way younger than yours. I more or less quit completely after my first, as other hobbies were more important and I barely have time for those. I figure I'll pick it back up in a few years. When I do, approx once a week is what I'm shooting for.

Andrew charges $200/hour and is worth every penny. Thinkingpoker.net.

When your eldest gets a drivers’ license and can cart the others around, a good bit of your time frees up.

Coaching info is public on Andrew’s site, so I’m not revealing anything confidential. Nor do I get any discount or other benefit from referring people to him, just to cover that base.
