There are great areas and if you don't have to commute or drive for work traffic is not too bad, but the $1M starting price for a house in nicer areas is going to do most of the work of keeping these mid-Westerners from selling their houses and moving here so you don't have to worry too much.

off the top of my head I doubt there is a state where you could pick the zip code and id live there over place of my choosing in ohio. I guess maybe somewhere super tiny like rhode island or the like would be one of the only possibilities.

I hear you. A ton of this is obviously subjective. But as I was driving back down to Northern Virginia from Vermont, I noticed the new MGM casino in Springfield, MA — about sixty miles from where I go in Vermont. Cost of living is around the country average, with transportation being below average and utilities being above average.

Might not be as bad as you think. But then again, I like the wilderness.

Haha, my first visit to L.A was an eye opener. I came excepting a chic, cosmopolitan wealthy city. I found a seemingly post-apocalyptic hellhole replete with sprawling hoovervilles. Was quite a shock.

That said, the food is phenomenal. So if that's your bag it may be worth a visit.

Tough choice. On the one hand Ohio can'r be all bad. On the other you'd have to resign yourself to no oceans, mountains, forests, or deserts.

But a random choice could land you in Rhode island.

To move from my sweet gig to a gig at Cleveland Clinic i think they'd have to double my salary. Even then...

When Kevin Love got traded to the Cavs i started reading the Cleveland Plain-Dealer online. I swear every 4 days there'd be another home invasion triple homicide on the front page. Add in all the opioid addicts, pit bulls, deplorables, city being harvested for scrap, pollution, and it being probably the ugliest state in the union (at least to drive though), i think it'd be hard for me to be happy there.

Enough money to import a bunch of friends and family, pay them to live in Ohio and have nice houses to live in. So a buttload. Last I heard the place is filled with junkies so I'm gonna have to start my own town that's junkie free with it's own private police force to kick all the junkies out that try to mosie on in.

edit: I'm also probably gonna go on an ego trip if I have my wishes granted and eventually bash a junkies head in so tac on another 20+ mill or so for my expert legal team for my murder trial.

I live in DE and already wanna bash a dope head. If there are 5x as many I'm just gonna wanna bash them even more.

If you've been around them enough you'd know where I'm coming from. They will steal everything not nailed down and **** over everyone in their friends/family and even their own kids. At a certain point you just consider them another entity possessed by demons and a threat to you and yours.
