Having lived there for three years, I'm not sure why anyone would think living in New Jersey was a good thing.

Currently live in a Columbus OH suburb. Am snap taking the random state.

Spun once and got Pennsylvania, which is great - I lived there for 10 years and would definitely make that trade.

Those balmy winters in utah and colorado... Just have to visit during one of the two days above freezing .

I've lived in Denver, the winter is pretty mild compared to **** back east.

That's fair, especially upstate NY. I'd deal with the regional weather of metro NY before living in a place like AZ, but I agree with you its great there.

Nevada is mostly horrible, but there are a few nice spots. I'd probably take Lake Tahoe over anything in Ohio, but random city in Nevada would be much worse than random city in Ohio. "

Reno isn't bad as long as you can afford the housing. We've hired a couple of people who have said "like Denver, except without all the bull****" - meaning traffic, mostly, from what I can tell. 30 minutes to skiing, 45 minutes to Tahoe, no state income tax. Schools are pretty poor, though....

Las Vegas is big enough that you can probably find whatever you're looking for, good and bad - but the heat is a dealbreaker for a lot of people.

Wisconsin is clearly better than Ohio ainec. Wisconsin has everything from giant ****hole cities (Milwaukee, Racine) connected to Chicago, yuppy lake-shore places, super liberal college towns (Madison), red neck ****hole meth areas, beautiful secluded lake country, etc. I went to college in Madison and lived in La Crosse (beautiful bluff and river area with a very beer-drinking culture) and loved both.

I'm wondering how Kentucky can't be better than Ohio. It's much, much prettier and shares a border.

I've never personally been to Milwaukee, but it certainly has had its fair share of visitors. The French missionaries and explorers were going there as early as the late 1600s to trade with the Native Americans.
In fact, Milwaukee is a Native American word, it's pronounced "mill-e-wah-que" which is Algonquin for "the good land."

It's where I'm currently at, family is close by, and proximity to NYC or Philly. AC for poker/gambling. Beautiful green areas as well. NJ a well above average result.

I know my map won't have anything in common with anyone else's map, but I'll bring the LOLs.

Columbus sucks. Malls and sprawling suburbs. Flat and ugly.

Northeast Ohio is much better. Tons of breweries in Cleveland area and tons of nice parks.

Everyone is different, but for me, these are not pluses. Also, while fine for gambling 20 years ago, lolAtlantic City.

Got a good job, kids have grown up here and go to good schools. Not sure that wife and I have an obviously preferred location where I could get a job.

The way I describe Columbus to people is that it's like a big suburb of a city that doesn't have all the stuff a big city normally offers.


As for people talking about legal poker, there is legal poker in the casinos in Ohio (4 of them) and there are card rooms similar to the charity rooms in some other states that are mostly legal...legal enough that no one is getting in trouble for playing in them and they aren't getting shut down any time soon.



That said: I can't wait to get out of here but I might still pick Ohio in the OP's dilemma. I just hate the winters here. The winters are a lot worse elsewhere, and so are the summers. This is a pretty good 50/50. Well played Greggers
