First colonoscopy in the books. Good for 5 years. I guess I am officially an old now.

Grats!

I had #3 three weeks ago. Don't worry. Those five years will fly by!

For some reason I thought it was a 10 year gap. Was a little disappointed.
07-27-2022 , 01:10 PM
It's 10 unless they found something and/or there is a family history that warrants higher frequency
07-27-2022 , 01:16 PM
There were 2 polyps, but I thought that was normal. Maybe that lowers it to five?

Poop-in-a-box is the way to go.

It's all over the map depending upon what happens. My history:

#1 Apparently I acted a fool even though I was supposedly completely sedated and they had to do additional sedation midway through. The GI guy told me afterwards that I would never need another one unless I had problems or my family history changed. I think he was relieved that he didn't perforate my colon and never wanted to see me again. I may have insulted him, his mother, and everyone within earshot while I was "out." I would love to see the tape!

#2 Post-procedure doc told me 5 years. Couple weeks later I got a letter in the mail saying pathology lab found some particular type of pre-cancerous polyp and I needed to come back in 3 yr. Boo! Hiss!

#3 Post-procedure doc told me 5 years. I continued to sweat another possible bait-and-switch, but on a Sunday night (no less) I got an email to check my portal. No, not that portal. Said path labs were back and 5 yr return was confirmed. And I can avoid even that by dying in the meantime! Yippee!

Wife's history:

#1 Follow-up in 10 years.

#2 Follow-up in 5 years.

I had an older friend whose colon was apparently a polyp farm so he seemed to get one every couple of years until he finally died from something unrelated.

2 polyps + some family history was enough to get me to 5. Lucky!

Well, this thread has turned to ****.

Like Tom's #1 (only without the profanity, as far as I know), sedation hit me, I woke up in the other room. The prep was pretty unpleasant, but it needs done.

Either got no advise on a return, or I've long forgotten.

I took the new job since I was frustrated with couldn't get a head gig and it was something new. when I was in H.S and college and during after post grad I always wanted to be a head coach.

my position now. even though its noting to do with soccer, I get paid to legit sometimes do 15 hrs a week (full salary and benefits) its admin stuff and some days I can work from home and its literally during the year its way way less work than soccer in terms of time commitment and everything. sure im not that passionate about it and its whatever but the fact that I make my hours, come in to office when I want and only for a few hours sometimes, its a dream gig in terms of workload and pay.

my family thinks its terrible that I am in this comfort and think they raised me better. my friends are split 50/50

50% say I need to take the gig because I always wanted to and why not, could always do something else if it doesn't work out

50% say its a dream office type gig I have now where you don't have to do half as much work and since im still doing a very good job i could always move into this new space and def catapult and more opportunities for advancement than the soccer gig ( even tho I don't care about advancement and making more money)

I like my gig now not because of really what i do (its okay) but im actually good at it (maybe better than the soccer ) but because i make hours I can game and do whatever for most of the year usually, it really is comfort.

im afraid of taking the soccer gig because im not as passionate as I was 2 years ago when I got out and a lot of work that I need to be invested in ( I think I could be) plus my cuirrent job I actually did had to work a lot my first year more than the average person in my position but now im reaping the benefits if that makes sesne as my boss said I would once I get everything "situational"

what do you guys as complete Randoms make of all this? my family is Kinda disappointed since they are hard workers and think im just takin the "easy" way at and that at the end of the day they want me to be happy and do what I want regardless. even tho I do feel ive been complacent myself

its a battle of doing what I might enjoy as opposed to being comfort/free time

thoughts?

edit potentially new gig would be 3-5k more

I had my interview and I thought I did okay. One questions kinda hurt me and my old boss said I should have told them to call her. My parents said I need to do what I want or whatever makes me happy and that's its my choice. friends are 50/50 split, old boss said if im gonna do the move, do it sooner than later.

Anyone have any more thoughts on this?

Sounds as if you need a nagging wife and/or a nagging PCP.

Oh yeah, the propofol was the one positive of the whole experience for me. That was some good ****

I told my anesthetist to be certain I was out cold as I didn't want the doc shooting at a moving target.

Is it well known that the Foo Fighters(all of them including Grohl) are AIDS denialists and believe that HIV and AIDS have no relation and that HIV meds cause AIDS? Also, that AIDS isn't a sexually transmitted disease. It was news to me. Good job on the publicists brushing that **** under the rug.

Never heard that before, though seems like they were rather than are https://www.reddit.com/r/Foofighters...mment/gymljhr/

In related news Fourth person ‘cured’ of HIV, but is a less risky cure in sight?

Or a colon that aches the majority of the time.
I'm pretty happy to learn I had no issues. Doc says some people's colons just hurt, lol. Can be caused by stress, so once gma dies and I dump my girlfriend it will hopefully be all good, lol!

Anesthesia was the part that worried me, haven't had it since I was kid having my wisdom teeth removed. I asked if anyone ever opted to have it done without anesthesia and they said yes, and almost all the patients who went that route were doctors. Made me a little wary if the guys in the know are saying No to the drugs.

Better Living Through Chemistry! (Which is also the title of a fun, but dumb, Sam Rockwell movie).

I've gone this long w/o a PCP or wife nagging at me. Planning on going the "I'll just die, then" route.
