My dad got a plane a year ago and just recently finished up all the necessary maintenance, so we went flying last weekend. Which means my dad flew and I went along for the ride and took a few pics.
Got to the Hayward airport just as the sun was coming up. It had been ~30 years since I was last in a small plane like this, and it felt a whole lot more spacious inside when I was a little kid.
Airspace around the Bay Area is heavily restricted with SFO, SJS, and OAK all being in close proximity, so we flew south and just made a big loop around the east bay over the hills.
We were in the air by 630am which was nice because it was pretty clear and perfectly calm.
This is the back side of Mission Peak, looking down at it from the east. It's definitely not as dramatic looking from this angle as it is when seeing it from ground level on the other side of the ridge.
For reference, this is the view I'm usually seeing:
Looking down at Calaveras Reservoir towards Sunol Regional Park.
looking west over San Antonio Reservoir
And looking east towards Livermore
Overlooking Central Park in Fremont
Touching down back in Hayward
