Hey OOT folks. Does anybody here play Wordle, from the New York TImes? If so it would be cool to have a place to compare our results. Today I did pretty good. My first guess I got one letter that was luckily identified as being in the correct location. The other four letters were not to be in the solution. For my second guess, I switched gears and used a word with no letters in the first guess. The game told me that one of those letters was in the solution but in a different location. That's seemingly not a lot to go on, however, since I was able to eliminate 8 common letters in my first two guesses, I was able to get the solution on my third guess. Not bad! I won't spoil the word for you in case you haven't got to it yet.

Can't wait for tomorrows puzzle!

You did a really good job, cause you only have 6 tries and there must be hundreds of 5 letter words they pick from. Where I work Janie is the only one who can get it in under 5 tries, but she's really smart.

I just do ALIEN into ROUTS every time and figure it out from there

The cool kids play quordle instead nowadays. If anyone can get today's worldle I'll be very impressed.

I had this crazy dream last night that todays Wordle solution was the name of one of the Three Stooges (a comedy act from many years ago). So when I tried it this morning, I tried the name of my favorite stooge. Wordle told me that there was only one letter from the guess in the solution, and that it wouldn't be located in the third position (Worlde identifies this with a yellow color). I realized that letter is also in the name of another Stooge, however Wordle wouldn't accept that name as a guess! Very confusing. I then tried the name of the third stooge, but that name only had three letters and so wasn't an option either. After a few minutes of confusion I remembered the name of a fourth stooge, but that name wasn't accepted either. So either my premonition was incorrect or there were further stooges from films I don't remember. Luckily, I still have 5 more guesses so I can regroup and try it again later. Still lovin this game.

Thanks for the quordle tip - maybe I will try that later.

Ha! I just made a note to myself yesterday to learn how to play this. I luv word games particularly jumble, skeleton crosswords, Foil, Boggle ... but haven't tried wordle yet.

I haven't tried secordle so can't really comment but it would be interesting to find out how many concurrent wordles makes for the hardest game where you get n + 5 guesses.

My first try at it today and got it in my 3rd guess. I’m assuming that is a pretty solid start.

Unofficial rules are 4 is par, 3 is birdie, 5 is bogey etc. So you're off to a birdie start.

It's pretty bad ass that you create a game for you and your girlfriend in October of last year and on a lark decide to put it on a website for others to play. Initially had 90 users and then 5 months later sold it to the NY Times for low 7 figures.

I had that country pinpointed quickly which was easy, I knew the name but it didn't come to me in 4 guesses or whatever. Today's is a much bigger **** you/me.
