And LOL @ saying 'people agree with me, so I'm right.'

(What's it called when someone colludes in trolling?)

what i was saying is that saying people agree with me validates the position that a reasonable person could come to the conclusion from the op that a william and mary diploma was not necessarily a college diploma.

the critical mass of people that agree has imo been reached and it is now impossible to suggest that all said people are unreasonable.

a) William and Mary does sound like a silly name. Like really. I dunno why, but it's the combination of both those names. William and John wouldn't sound just as bad.
b) I've never heard someone say "I have a [insert university] degree". That sounds very strange to me.
c) Never heard of William and Mary before.
d) The name of the college held no relevance to the story.

Considering these 4 points, it's not hard to realise that some people are going to assume it's a joke name. Under these circumstances it just doesn't make much sense that he's referring to an actual college. Saying you should know due to the placement of "William and Mary" is also useless, since I've never heard people refer to their college+degree like that. Of course, if I really wanted to know what he meant, I'd have just googled it.

But I'm a eurotard so yeah. Seriously though, I don't get why people are so stubborn over this. Americans who think the world revolves around America?

No, no you didn't.

Being willing to type more is not the measure that decides who wins an arguement.

I can understand not having heard of William and Mary. I'm sure there are many colleges in the UK I haven't heard of. For instance "Coleg Llandrillo Cymru". Until I looked it up just now I had no idea there was a school in Wales called that.

But if someone typed "Coleg Llandrillo Cymru Diploma" I'd be pretty sure it was some sort of school.

Question: Are the people you sleep with in Wales smarter or dumber because of the way they spell stuff?

as hilarious as this thread has become, im taking a break for a while. maybe later didace

btw anyone else that wants to play, please go back and actually come up with something new that hasnt already been refuted (you too didace). its pointless doing the exact same arguments cyclically.

I would think from the context of the question you, Bulletproof Monk, would understand that I didn't mean you, Bulletproof Mark, but instead meant you, someone reading the question. As in, "Dumb people you've slept with?"

Oh, wait, right.

Your points become a lot less valid when you replace "degree" with "diploma" which was the word which was actually used in the story. And point d is somewhat dubious as well. The specific college may not have been important, but it does help to make it clear that it's actually a real diploma, which does help to hold the story together. Apparently that doesn't help for people who have never heard of it before, but it's hardly unreasonable to think that a story about a diploma might use a couple spare words naming the school.

I did that and you admitted that you were wrong and yet you then proceed to insist that you're right.

JFC. Assburgers itt. You might shrug it off, whatever. It's still quite clearly assburgers.

Bulletproof Monk has posted enough elsewhere for me to know he's not a ******. RJ/PITTM isn't/wasn't a ****** either but had a very similar stubborn streak (although "stubborn" isn't exactly what I'm going for, it's the best word I can come up with) when vast quantities of people disagreed with him. Daryn kind of has it too, except he at least has the sense to stop caring MUCH earlier than this.

Can't we just create a new subforum called "William and Mary?" And then lock up Bulletproof Monk inside? Maybe open it up once a week for tourists from the rest of 2p2 who want to trade gibes with BM about exactly how dumb he is?

William
Mary

2 of the most ridiculous, obscure names in the history of mankind. I mean do people really name their kids this crap? Jesus I feel sorry for them. And even if these were real names, would a college ever name itself after them? I mean, really?

"I go to William and Mary?"
"Moar like Blarfingar and Hookinwatchum amirite?"

i think you underestimate how much ive enjoyed this. if that makes me a bad person so be it.

sometimes i just feel like a good old fashioned war. and if its over something as silly as this it makes it even more enjoyable because there is no chance its really gonna get personal etc.

Well sure but it's still kinda dumb to be like "WTF would a school be named after (2 really normal) people's first names?"

I mean should the private school Saints Joachim and Anne change their name too?

Wow, this has to be one of the most bizarre threads I've read in a long time. Just wow.

rofl best bump ever, dude comes back 3 years later to continue defending his stupidity.

on another note, while out on a walk my cousins ex-gf once said "hey those are bees right because they are stripped." "stripped?" "yea, the black and the yellow lines, they are stripped." took us about a minute to realize she thought "striped" was pronounced "stripped".

wtf
