FWIW I had obviously heard of it but no idea it was so well-respected. For added lols I went to Washington University in St. Louis, another college a lot of people probably don't identify as a top school but probably is.

Meh. We're only famous for Jon Stewart anyways.
That and Mike Tomlin, Darren Sharper, and Dan Henning in the NFL.

Yea your college is definitely a great school, but W&M has played such a significant role in American history that anyone who has taken a history class had to have seen it mentioned many times.
Before 1700, W&M and Harvard were the only two official colleges in the colonies. It was Jefferson's alma mater too.

Back in the days when Virginia was actually an important state.
George Washington went to the school to get his surveyor license. Jefferson, Tyler, and Monroe all graduated there.
Still the creator of Spin City and Scrubs, Bill Lawrence went to our school. Which is why I'm a huge Scrubs fan.
Jefferson though, got so fed up with William and Mary he went out of his way to found another university across the state that became UVA.

whats the point of this thread?

There is no point thats why it's so insane.

This thread needs some pics or something.

Now I know why no one knows about the school.

This is a pic of students from their FB page.

Looks like Mary ate William. So it will now just be a Mary diploma, which could easily be confused with the homophone 'merry' ...

Also, I went out with a girl from W&M a few times. She was cute, but a ****ty lay.
Also, Jon Stewart went to W&M.

And now we see the difference between a "public ivy" and the real thing.

I think that's the only reasonable excuse for liking Scrubs, because that show is the least-funny pile of **** to ever be on tv.
