Lfs,

Ok so after exhausting testing, Philz just isn’t that good

Old model fans,

Not a swimsuit model, but Christy Turlington was the best.

But what will become of the mug?

I went to this festival the other day with my bf and they had this guy giving a talk on gardening with a green slant to it. Anyway he ended up deviating slightly off topic and started ranting about straws. My bf and I were standing at the back, there was a seated area in front of us and there was another guy standing slightly in front of us who was in clear view of the stage. He'd been happily chugging down his iced coffee/milkshake concoction and then once the guy on stage started his straw rant he dropped his arm with cup/straw utensil and twisted his arm so the straw was blocked from sight by the stage. I proceeded to discreetly nudge my bf at what was happening, he got the smirks and I had to try and stifle my laughter. It was completely ridiculous and absurd but delightfully funny.

How did straws come up in a gardening presentation?
05-03-2018 , 08:27 PM
micro: just a guy with good taste in models whose kids eat!

LFS: maybe I'll become a guy who takes his mug to coffee places.

Cs3,

It was a gardening/green living sort of thing. Main thrust was gardening but he ended up talking about composting then waste reduction and then straws. It appeared to be a pet peeve of his.

God Rexx you are so domestic.

I'm sure you're just talking about pierogis and snow and **** but english only at the table.

OOT confirmed old af.

samuri8 - nice wifi strength!

Rexx - I've been seeing this anti single use plastics attitude lately on my FB feed. Lots of plastic straw haters out there. Stainless steel straws are now totally a thing. The bent ones with etching at the bent portion to make them resemble plastic straws are pretty tilting compared to the straight ones.

NJ area OOTers - They caught the Mystery Pooper.

I bought glass straws for home use years ago and love them. They are perfect for sipping my organic iced coffee with organic milk.

I use re-usable straws for smoothies. Kind of a pain keeping them clean, switched to glass so at least I can tell if they're properly washed.

Drinking from straws makes your mouth go prematurely wrinkly.

LFS and others,

Who are all you grownups still using straws!?
05-04-2018 , 01:28 PM
EL D you are urgently needed in the n1 thread!

Between getting older and weight loss, I have some lines/creases on my face for the first time. I think it looks good!

I drink a protein shake/smoothie on the way to work.

LFS,

OK. Get a smoothie vessel with a built-in straw.
05-04-2018 , 01:49 PM
Any drink in a glass with ice is better enjoyed through a straw. Is that even in question?
05-04-2018 , 01:54 PM
JT,

The only drinks I drink with ice are liquor/cocktails, and no, they are not better enjoyed with straws.

I blend the smoothie in a Magic Bullet blender, so I just put a lid on the cup it blends in, then a straw through the opening.

Lay off my smoothie game, man.

Fair enough. Exceptions exist. I’m not drinking scotch through a straw.

Bloody Mary, yes. Iced tea, yes. As mentioned iced coffee, yes. Maybe tall glasses are a qualifier.
