Don't listen to the haters! This was easily the most entertaining post in this thread.

It's fine man, you're a beer noob. Everyone has to start somewhere, and it's almost always with IPAs. I suggest checking out the great beer thread in EDF if you're looking to learn more.

But what a strange thing to do, quote my post, cut out where I say that IPAs aren't anywhere near the best beers available, and then make a joke about how I love IPAs.

The best beers in the world, whether they be from Cantillon, Hill Farmstead, SARA, Bokkereyder, etc. are bottled. I'm sure you'll have to google these places, but don't insult people that know way more than you, it's a clown move.

USA has the cheapest beer? Even for Western standards, beer in the US is ridiculously expensive. You get a 6 pack of the cheaper stuff for less than $2 in lots of European countries. Couple of months ago we went to Germany and saw beer at Aldi for 0.19€/can plus 0.25€ deposit/can which was kinda ridiculous.

I agree! I grew up on Schlitz, Pabst and Old Style. Gimme a cheap US domestic over any of those craft beers.

IIRC that 48-pack of Kirkland Signature Light works out to like $0.55/can after CRV. Your state may vary

We export culture. Few places rival the beauty of the califonia coastline. LA started their firework show when it was still light out and went till 1am. Sports. Chili cheese fries. The people who grow pot in norcal. I could go on forever. We are a capitalist experiment but we also innovate like no other.

Was obviously just defending myself from a guy that has no idea what he’s talking about. I’m sure you have interests where you’d do the same.

Fed (and kam and whoever else doesn't think US has the best beer scene),

Do you really disagree with Jim's comments? I find it way easier and more common to find a wide range of great beers in bars/restaurants/stores in the US vs Europe or anywhere else.

And when it comes to production, Europe rules when it comes to funky sours (though Cascade, Russian River, Rare Barrel, Almanac and others make great stuff here and just keep getting better) and Belgian dubbels/tripels/quads, but the US has so much amazing product in just about every style (especially IPAs and stouts).

If you like a wide range of beer styles and could only drink beer from one country for the rest of your life, it seems no contest for a beer lover to pick the US.

El D, what posts of mine would make you think this? I think the US is #1 when it comes to beer and it’s not particularly close at this point.

The two objections I’ve had are when JayTeeMe said his city’s 5 breweries are better than anything the rest of the world can offer, which is lol because lambic, and Jbrochu stating matter of factly the best beer comes in cans, which is lol because stouts, wilds, etc.

Fed,

Gotcha, my apologies, was just skimming posts and mistakenly lumped you in with the others disagreeing with OP.
