Also I can't believe I forgot about bender , he is great and deserves some .

Before I opened the thread, I thought, "You know, I never vote in those bracket polls, but if they made a bracket for this topic, I'd be in there!"

Then I opened the thread, and it's all Seth MacFarlane and Matt Groening? Phooey, cancel those brackets.

Before I get painted with the same brush, I just want to make it clear that I don't have Squidward (or anyone else created after 1970) in my top ten.

So here's my list/attempt to jar a few memories:

Bugs wins this going away. Daffy and Yosemite Sam make the list. Elmer Fudd is on the bubble.

The hot chick from Scooby Doo makes it.

I always liked Peter 'Potomus for some reason (and his Hippo Hurricane Holler). Never liked Lippy the Lion, but loved his hyena sidekick, Hardy Har Har.

Badluck Schleprock is a HOF'er. So is that little Lilleputian from Gulliver's Travels who always moaned in a deep, defeated voice, "We'll neverrrrr make it! We're doooooooomed!"

Glad somebody mentioned Dick Dastardly and Muttley (I knew a guy who used to laugh like Muttley, which is really more of a wheeze than a laugh). Pretty much every team member of the Really Rottens from the Laugh Olympics deserves consideration.

Funny, I'm OK with Top Cat (who's a rip off of Sgt Bilko), but I can't forgive Fred Flintstone (who's a rip off of Ralph Kramden). Weird, huh? Funny thing about the Flintstones: you could make the argument that the show jumped the shark when they brought in Kazoo; yet at the same time, you could make the argument that Kazoo was the best character in the history of the show.

Anybody remember Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch? I used to like a few of the Bunch, and the show's high-energy theme song.

I used think the girl on Hong Kong Phooey (with the Lois Griffin voice) was sexy as hell, and I was about 5 at the time.

The old, old Popeyes, where he would often mutter under his breath, were the best.

Mr Spacely blowing his stack was money every time. "Jet, SONNNNNNNNNN! You'rrrrrrrrrrrre fired! F-R-I-D, fired!"

Finally, I'm creating a special spot on my list for the MUSIC in this one. Take your pick: the super-sped up, high-pitched "We're in the Money", the scary music at 1:44, the drunken "(I'm looking over) A Four Leafed Clover", the bugler's "Call to Post" as the Bug decides to join the fun, the sad-sack "My Momma Done Tol' Me" at 3:11...this is my fav cartoon ever, mostly because Roll Out The Barrel was genius.

Mr. Burns/Homer are probably the only FOX candidates but I'd consider Stewie/Quagmire/Bender.

I'd also probably go with Wall-E but not sure he's eligible.

I worked on 6 of the Looney Tunes Golden Collection boxed sets (it supposedly appears on Volume 4), and I have to admit that I did not get to see that cartoon (we didn't do any features related to it). I thought it was surprisingly humorous, even though it was basically an anti-gambling PSA, told in the same way all their PSAs were...wackily. That was the first time I had ever seen that cartoon, as well, at least that I remember. Roll out the barrel was very humorous, but the basic joke has been told a million times in those cartoons (someone getting blown up or hit by something at the end of a gag way off in the distance). I love Looney Tunes, and hate Disney. Always have, always will.

does the fact that it was a Merrie Melody and not a Looney Tune have anything to do with this?

Here is easily the best Wile E. Coyote cartoon.

No, we worked on both, throughout the collections. I'm guessing they just didn't think it was something that deserved special consideration (commentary/music only). I think they really began struggling putting cartoons together beginning on that collection, and the collections went pretty downhill after that, while still always including a bunch of great ones. 6 was pretty bare bones in comparison to the first two, which had the most content.

No one has mentioned this guy, yet, either. I prefer the later character design (small Droopy), but many of the stories were pretty genius, and often super wacky.

Spongebob and Patrick are GOAT.

bugs bunny, homer, daffy duck, yosemite sam, road runner, wild e coyote deserve a rank too.
