I took a closer look at that cutting board. Cutting boards are ground zero for sandwiches.
I’m guessing it did good service for the couple who raised five kids and lived in this house more than 50 years. While it’s got a lot of scars I don’t see anything which suggests hatchet work.
The cutting board is from Munising in Michigan, a company that apparently went out of business in 1955.
There are holes for small legs but they’re long gone. I guess the bottom pic is how the original version looked. That was on-sale online and called a Munising Butcher Block.
