Feel like a good delicatessen brisket sandwich belongs on a great sandwich list.

That looks just insanely good. Just meat, mustard, and good bread.

Lol Newfie steak - I lived where people praise the stuff like it's Kobe beef. It's fine with mustard but ehhhhh

Don’t knock fried bologna. I eat everytime I make it home.

Definitely hitting up Zimmermans when UT plays Mich in a couple of years. When I went with VY to Columbus in 2005 those scumbags had nothing to offer.imo.

They fried bologna is from Zimmermans stand at the Rochester Ny public market, not Zimmermans delicatessen in Michigan. Nothing better than getting some veggies and a fried bologna breakfast sandwich afterwards.

i actually saw a pbs documentary where they traveled around the US finding signature fast food dishes from old restaurants - iirc a lot of the show seemed to focus on upstate ny as they had a lot of old establishments that specialized in things rarely found elsewhere

Yeah not surprising, a lot of somewhat isolated poor communities with there weird take on American food. In Rochester the signature style hamburger is with something called “hot sauce”, a meat sauce similar to chili. Hot dogs are called Texas hots. A white hot dog or a white Texas hot or white hots are nearly as popular as regular red hot dogs in other cities with a hot dog tradition.

I think this point with road trip food shows and the internet most are now familiar with garbage plates.

The place in Ann Arbor is Zingerman's. They make an excellent sandwich but I dunno if bologna is on the menu.

I'd hit that Zimmerman's sandwich.

Same owner as Saginaw’s at the Circa in Vegas? If I make to Michigan seems like a must stop on my list.

My favorite sandwich. Made this one on the Blackstone griddle. Shredded lettuce, cooked onions, pickles, American cheese, sauce.

I feel like the only time American cheese should be used is when it's Coopers White American on a cheesesteak.

I prefer White American in general but yellow is somehow better!? on burgers.

HOWEVER!

For burger purposes I have: Cheddar usually > Mozzarella (albeit it's close) >>>> Yellow American
