I’ll pick up a bottle of Choula, don’t recall it being hotter than Tabasco.

Oh Jeez. Just noticed this thread and am subbing. I feel too overwhelmed to go through the thread and I just have too much to say in regards to sandwiches.

Valentina Black is far better than Choula, which is not bad. You should give it a try. I strongly prefer Valentina Black. The one with the yellow label is literally weak sauce (but probably closer in heat level to Cholua TBH).

I'm no fan of Cholula, but how in the hell can it be misspelled so many different ways in this thread?

For the record, I love sammiches, PB&J, heroes, subs, whatever. I'd eat the heck out of all those posted above, but sub real meat for the portabella, ldo.

Also, I don't think a hot dog is a sandwich, but I think maybe a hamburger is. Pizza - no. Fry bread, stuffed with red chili pork - yes, sprinkled with powdered sugar or honey - no.

The guy that requested clarification upon whether a pizza was a sandwich is now getting all elitist about hot sauce?

Tabasco DOES have a flavor. It tastes like itself: vinegary and spicy hot. It's very good on some things. It's not a super complex flavor, but I don't require that my hot sauce be distilled from the essence of the finest organic heirloom peppers danced into a paste under the feet of nubile virgins. And combined with xanthan gum.

Sometimes a condiment is just a condiment.

That said, mad mad love for spicy mustard. It makes everything delicious, even plain crackers and cheese.

Had a med rare roast beef sandwich w provolone and bacon on jalapeño cheddar bread for lunch. Thought I had inglehoffer horseradish but I didn’t so I had to sub in some horsey sauce. Was so good I just got back from the store and got another pound of roast beef and some inglehoffer HR. Prob gonna panini the next one, maybe go w some classic cheddar one of them as well but I prefer provolone over cheddar most of the time

I genuinely hold OOT responsible for introducing me to the Banh mi. Driving the 1h 30 from Manilla to Angeles city, we stopped at a service stop that had a Jollibee... would normally be a no brainer... until I spied a banh mi shop. Bought two of them and never looked back. If you haven't indulged, you ought to.

OOT did the same to me. They are like unicorns in my area, but I have found a few on trips. No regrets.

Same on the bahn mi. Inspired me to make my own a couple times and they came out fantastic. I'll see if I can dig up pics.

Oddly, still haven't bad a 'real' one from a legit bahn mi place. Someday soon.

Looking at it now, I am gutted that I didn't go for the "special combination". Seems like a rookie mistake. Cheese steak also seems like a damn good option.
