Apparently some scientists pointed telescopes/tools at Venus to check that they work and don't find anything surprising, and ended up finding phosphine in the atmosphere. Phosphine on earth is made in labs and in biological processes, and has long time been thought to be a good sign of biological activity if found on rocky planets.
They tried to replicate making it in similar conditions as you'd expect in Venus, but couldn't find a way. So obviously not aliens confirmed, but pretty strong signal and going to be interesting to see the follow up research. The surface on Venus is hot and in high pressure, but Venus' atmosphere is pretty earth-like conditions, but with a lot of CO2 (which would be good gas for this kind of biological processes on earth)
If found to be true, would be really interesting to a lot of questions, like how widespread is life in the universe, also a bad sign regarding Great Filter paradox/hypothesis.
