And how have deviled eggs not been mentioned in this thread yet? The ultimate potluck dish (though they're *not* quick to make). Here are a few of mine, inspired by Kenji's "9 In-Your-Face Deviled Eggs Variations" recipe:

Devil them eggs, brother!

Nice pics in all the posts.

Its really worth getting an instant pot just to boil eggs in . Well I guess they are steamed and not exactly boiled, always perfect though

Eggs are one of the best things the world has to offer. Delicious, cheap, can be prepared in a million ways, nutritious, and the supply is limitless.

My top 3 favorite ways to consume them:

1. Huevos rancheros
2. Poached eggs on sourdough with avocado (Aussie style)
3. Greek scrambled eggs (fetta cheese, olives, parsley, spinach if you feel like it, lots of olive oil)

I cook one of these almost on a daily basis, will post pictures later

Walmart has boiled eggs pretty cheap. And you don't have to peel them.

For some reason (I can't cook in my current situation). has thrown my brain into hypnosis. Then advising you buy hard boiled eggs because you don't have to peel them?

Obviously none of my business, but I would go batshit crazy if i had to outsource 90% of my food other than making a sandwich. Hope your situation improves.

Advised him about the hard boiled eggs because he was going to buy a pot. It saves him a pot as well as the time and effort to boil eggs.

I never liked to cook anyway, except occasionally eggs. Cooking is a time sink - it takes more time to cook than to eat what you cook. You have to consider the cleanup and washing too.

I have a microwave. Between that, fast food, and sandwiches, it's been more than adequate over my lifetime.

totally agree. it takes me 1 minute to clean the pan after i boil a dozen eggs for 10 minutes. and i spend so much time standing there watching....just watching...waiting for the water to boil before i can turn it to simmer. once i'm able to turn it to simmer i just can't help but keep watching to be sure the shells don't crack. i also don't trust timers so there's no way i can set one and walk away to do something else while the eggs cook. the biggest shame is that i wasn't born with opposable thumbs that would allow me to peel the eggs, especially after draining the water from the pan and rattling them around to crack the shells.
sigh...one of my biggest regrets in life is that i will never be able to experience the deliciousness that is a warm creamy freshly boiled egg with salt sprinkled on top. off to walmart i go.

Didn't help.

Never boil. Set the timer. Eat what you get, and try again.

I tried doing Kenji's BEST HARD BOILED EGGS EVER recipe for shells coming off easy and clean, and I'm sorry to say it sucked. It was like put eggs in cold water, put on stove and bring to boil. Turn off stove and let sit covered for 10 minutes. Don't think one egg ever came out clean.

Now I just bring to a boil, add salt and eggs, boil for 13 minutes. Game over.

I bought a Dash egg cooker on sale when it was super-cheap, so pretty easy and quick to boil eggs once you figure out how much water you like using. Before that, I would steam eggs on the stove, 10 minutes, very consistent.

I steamed 6 eggs for deviled eggs today. 13 mins, ice water bath, then crack all over and peel under running water. 5 of them came out great and 1 looked like it was about to eject a facehugger

Hard Boiled Eggs - I make them multiple times a week, and rarely have an issue peeling any:

Water, salt, and some vinegar in a pot, bring to a rolling boil.
Carefully add eggs (slotted spoon), bring back up to a boil.
Turn down the heat to a simmer, cook for 11 minutes.
After the 11 minutes, immediately empty the hot water and shock the eggs with an ice bath.
Once cooled (half hour or less), they're good to go.

This is what I do, but only let sit for 6-7 minutes depending on how soft I want them. With a little baking soda in the water, the shells come right off in one peel. Really think this method is best for electric stoves.

Edit: Oh wait, I also immediately put them into ice water after the 6-7 minutes of sitting covered.

Ideally you boil fresh eggs but I had some about to expire. I’m pickling these, make a great snack.

I'm trying to jog old, old memories. Oester made various kitchen gadgets in the '50s & '60s (at least). I know my folks had a blender they made. I am thinking that my mother had an egg poacher as well, but my brain cells will not confirm 100%.

I've always considered anyone who said "sammich" to be mentally deficient. I have only rarely been proved wrong.
