When I was a kid my dad would make breakfast while I was doing my paper round. He would put out Weetabix made with warm milk.It took me a few weeks to get up the courage to explain to him that I could put the milk on after I got home.
When we had a Great Dane puppy my wife would feed him Weetabix as recommended by the breeder. After a few months she decided to have them for her own breakfast.”Jesus Christ what have I put the poor boy through”

Aldi haul (Haul-di)

My gf did not understand the cereal photoshoot on the counter, but she did suggest the order of importance.

Is Marshmallow & Stars some sort of Lucky Charms ripoff? Oh that's the Aldi house brand. Their boxes look like a real brand instead of the typical generic trashy boxes

Are the ripoff cereals that much cheaper?

They’re all a dollar.

Some generics are a no-go as D-Beat pointed out, but most taste the same and some even taste better than name brand (looking at you cocoa pebbles). Generic brands were also ahead of the curve on using real sugar instead of HFCS, so I’ve grown quite fond of them over the years.

The only one in this stack that’s worse than name brand is the Cinnamon Toast Crunch knockoff, but my gf picked that one out. She says she prefers it to name brand, but whatever she’s a weirdo vegetarian.

Edit: oh yeah, my favorite in this lineup is probably the lucky charms. I would have said golden grahams knockoff if they had any. But even as I say this, I know I’ll be going right for the corn flakes at midnight.

my brain is trying to piece together a mashup of the jingles from the general and lucky charms...i think it has to be the leprechaun's words and the general's pace (somehow).

i also like that knockoff box 'cause lucky charms is a general mills brand.

Unprompted, my wife bought a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch this weekend, and I'm surprised and somewhat proud of the fact that there is still a bowl or maybe two left after two days.

Willpower, I has it.

Hurt I feel like you've turned a box of cereal into makeshift bowl. Tear down part of the box and dump milk directly into the bag.

grunching from this post so it may have been mentioned already, but can you please write a letter to the idiots at the company that bought the Butterfinger rights and recipe and then promptly changed it? Apparently you have the pull.

5th Avenue far better than Butterfinger, though much harder to find. Often found at CVS.

Ferrera, owned by Ferrero (second largest candy maker in the world), bought Nestle's US candy line in 2018, including Butterfinger:

Quote:
Recipe change

Ferrara reformulated the Butterfinger in January 2019, with labels displaying "Improved Recipe". "Better" Butterfinger, as it is identified in advertising, uses larger[citation needed] runner peanuts in the bar's core that are roasted at the manufacturing plant. The new bar also uses a higher percentage of cocoa and milk in the chocolate coating and cuts ingredients such as the preservative TBHQ and hydrogenated oils.[12]

The package itself has also been upgraded to avoid spoilage.[13]

Despite representatives of the brand claiming sales have "significantly improved with the new recipe, specifically after posting a double digit sales decline prior to the brand revamp",[citation needed] public opinion via social media contradict the marketing claim that the new recipe tastes better than its predecessor.[14]

If that tilts you, definitely don't google "Mondelez recipe changes", especially if you like Oreos or Cadbury products. Mondelez (formerly Kraft) is doing you dirty.

HEB here in Texas has a premium line of granolas I've been eating now and then called Cerealogy. Cereal is like science, you see. You have to wear a white lab coat to eat this stuff. They started out trying to get almost 4 bucks a box but now they'll often have some marked down around $2-$2.50 which works for me. I like the Strawberry Matcha Fusion: "A granola blend of rolled oats, white chocolate pieces with matcha tea added, freeze-dried strawberry pieces, chia seeds, grated coconut and cinnamon."
