I like using a microplane grater way better than a press, although I've only tried a press a couple of times when staying in airbnb's that had one. Microplane works great though and doubles as a lemon zester, lol. I guess I've been against presses ever since I heard Michael Symon making fun of them. Peer pressure is a ***** (not that I'm a peer of Symon)

Also interested, have a Mitba Garlic press that sucks! Fine grater sounds better

Lots of great cooks in the Cooking thread, who knows if they read this thread. Might have better luck asking there.

I got this for garlic and ginger and it works great for making a paste:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3282...27424c4dLzjbqS

For a press I have the pampered chef press which was something my wife bought at a tupperware party and it's good but I don't know if it's any better than a $10 one from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Pampered-Chef.../dp/B001UC4VAW

Microplane is good but makes the garlic incredibly sharp. SE just did a video on this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQd3hFf26R8

ETA: I'm in an airbnb atm without any of my stuff and have found that the fine holes on a box grater work just fine too.

chefs knife works faster and cleaner than a press.

Excellent video.
Chefs knife can do all of those. Key is to mash, press and drag with the side of the knife as necessary.

picked up the 43" retro arcade machine from here: https://thearcadeguys.shop/collectio...020-collection

pretty happy with it. I used to have a MAME cabinet a long time ago, using a real monitor, but things broke in a move and I never got it working again right. I don't have the time or woodworking/electrical expertise to do this myself, I'd likely end up spending months planning/putting it together.

fun way to kill some time with the kids and have them experience some older games.

I looked at their website and it doesn't give a list of the games available. Do you know if you are able to add your own games if one that you want isn't on there? I've been thinking about making one of these myself for years, but at these prices why bother, lol?

I think you should be able to add games as that machine is basically a Raspberry PI connected to a 43" 4K TV with some joysticks attached?

I have one with 3500+ games. If you name the game it's probably on there. Some games have basically every single version a Japanese version, Europe version, US version ver. 1, rev2, hacked versions etc.

65" LG OLEDevo Gallery edition TV. Picture is incredible, although I was pretty disappointed to discover how many NFL games are actually broadcast in 4k: none, at least until playoffs. Ugh. Still, a great looking TV. I love the gallery version. Sits tight to the wall, comes with it's own wall mount included, sticks out probably 2" from the wall.

Now I'm the "Find, read reviews, torture myself, repeat" phase of shopping for a new patio furniture set. Leaning heavily towards a Costco buy, but open to any suggestions you guys might have.

Nice TV mark! I haven't bought a new TV in a while, which means I'll probably need one soon.

I bought my patio furniture from a local place years ago. The only thing I remember is how expensive everything was.

Nice TV! Not sure that I could look at patio furniture prior to beefing up the audio portion of the program, but that's just me. And MSchu apparently!

I have no recommendations for patio furniture. We usually just go not-too-pricey from Home Depot or Lowe's as whatever we buy will definitely get abused by the weather, cats & other critters, etc. We just find chairs that are comfortable to sit in and a table or two. But we don't spend a lot of time on the patio other than when grilling as we have about the same weather as you--the AC is just too attractive and mosquito-free.

eta: We haven't looked at Costco yet as we hadn't had one available when we were in the market for patio furniture.

patio furniture are like consumables... unless they are built in, they get changed out every couple/few years because they degrade so quickly.

i've found some fairly decent and reasonably inexpensive patio stuff at target in the past. might give them a look as well.

It's a G2. Love your sound system!

I have so many windows open with so many tabs each of patio furniture. Ugh. Maybe I will just go with something cheaper and treat it as disposable, so long as it has comfy cushions. I went to Costco and they only had one set available to sit in, maybe I'll hit up Home Depot and Lowes today to check out some variety. I don't think the elements should have much of an effect on them, they'll be out of the rain and sun. All I know for sure is that I want Sunbrella cloth and a couple of ottomans. My cousin in Denver has a set that I really like a lot that he bought at Costco 10 years ago and is still in great shape, even with 3 kids, but it doesn't say on it anywhere what brand it is, other than on the cushions, which are Sunbrella cloth.

The secret to patio furniture is select stuff that has future support. Cushions, velcro, pads, straps, plastic stuff, Umbrellas all are massively abused in the hot sun. Available replacements items can really extend the life of the furniture.

I bought mine in 2000 and still going with updates on the wear items. All the metal parts are anodized aluminum. So no rust, no maintenance and are not heavy to move.

With all that said, Costco in warehouse furniture prices are almost impossible to beat.

imo

This is pretty much what I've narrowed it down to:
https://www.costco.com/grand-leisure...100407059.html

https://www.costco.com/sunvilla-mali...100787708.html

Really prefer the one with blue cushions available, but the wide arms on the other one would be better plus the lack of cushions on the ottomans on the blue one. Also going to go check HD/Lowes first.
Unfortunately, the views aren't included.
