This. It's the same price as bud/miller/coors and definitely blows them out of the water. It's not really going to be much competition for beers that are at least double the price.

Posting for my wife.

It's embarrassing every time she asks me to pick some up when I go buy beer.

Well, it's a different variant. Murphy's is sold a lot more in the South of Ireland (it's a Cork thing really), where it would be on tap in the majority of pubs. I would say that it tends to be a little nicer out of the can in comparison to Guinness, but I would normally order Guinness in a pub if both were available.

Have always felt it has a more coffee like taste if that makes any sense.

Arguably the best of the three mass produced Irish stouts is:

but when a pub is selling it, fewer people are drinking it so you'd still go for a Guinness because there is a better flow on the line.

regular sam adams is also good, and the cherry wheat stuff is not bad either. i'll drink heineken and guinness (although for the latter, i have to be in the mood), as well as yuengling and newcastle, although if i had to choose a beer, i'll go with sam adams first and foremost, followed by heineken.

i can't stand fosters, and many of the popular american beers (bud et all, miller, coors) just don't hold up to sam adams to me, which imo has a full flavor.

corona (with a lime) is my beer of choice for cinco de mayo, other than that one day, i don't really drink it. guiness is of course my st patty's beer of choice.
Why can't they brew "Octoberfest" in the Southern Hemisphere so that we can have it six months a year?

Anything by kenzinger breweries. Also yards and victory to mix it up. Local crafts have been delicious here in killadelPhia

Unibroue makes the best Belgian style beers in North America IMHO. Trader Joe's Vintage Ale, which comes out each year in late November, is brewed by them and is an absolute steal at $5 a bomber. I've got two cases aging in the cellar.

I can't believe that a few people mentioned corona

Because Corona isn't really all that good. It's pretty much in the same department as Heineken.
