If the beer in that bottle is brewed by an international megacorporation, then drink on. Nobody worries about a light-struck Corona because they use a chemical compound instead of hops, just so they can stick it in clear bottles without affecting the beer.

Supposedly Pilsner Urquell is being canned these days; I haven't seen one, but I'll snap buy some if I ever do.

Recommendations for a good Oktoberfest (presumably Marzen)? I just bought Spaten Oktoberfest and New Belgium Red Hoptober, not really expecting greatness from either but we'll see how they go. I actually am not generally a fan of the Oktoberfest style, so I dont know what is good.

It's up at the top for me too, but everything by St Bernardus is delicious. If you haven't tried them, their two tripels (Tripel and Watou tripel) are both fantastic.

2012 Bitches Brew - very interesting stout. Great creamy mouthfeel with very strong licorice notes. Of all the DFH experiments, this may be my favorite.

Going to be in DC over the weekend. Any locals have recs for a bar around the mall or union station where I can get an interesting beer and watch the Cards finish off the Nats?

For anyone in Western WA, I strongly recommend www.soundbrewery.com, particularly their "Monk's Indiscretion" and "Dubbel Entendre"

Dry hopped, and fermented with an aromatic Belgian yeast strain, Monk's Indiscretion has an intense tropical hoppy aroma and flavor, with balanced bitterness, and is scarily drinkable for such a strong beer. 10% ABV, 46 IBUs.

Comforting aromas of chocolate malt and dark toffee, with a hint of banana and stone fruits. A dark abbey style ale with a subtle rich maltiness and a dry, spicy finish. 8% ABV, 21 IBUs.

I noticed a local market can ship their beer: http://www.marinamarket.com/istar.as...&instockonly=1

Not sure if too late but Brickskeller or RFD are good DC beer spots

I got some last year for christmas and then had some the other night and it tastes about the same. Really great beer and it really does taste like ginger bread. It's probably the best stout I have ever had.

I'll be there wed as well

I think they're in Colorado, but Trippel is pretty nasty, imo. 2° Below is probably their best brew, or that 1544 one.

Confirmed, trippel is pretty nasty

1554 is pretty heavy but solid. Can't go wrong with Ranger, Fat Tire, or Sunshine. Pretty sure 2 below is just a winter seasonal, but nearly all of NB's seasonals are pretty solid

They are based out of fort collins co
