I don't know who makes Crispin but they've got big-time distribution backing, they flooded TN over the past year and TN is not where you go to make money.

At a beer fest last year their booth was next to mine and when gates opened there was nobody there, so I helped myself. Got a good 8oz of yeast/sediment before giving up.

crispin started a couple years ago doing local stuff in minneapolis/st paul, think they recently signed on or sold the company to a big national distributor.

Just had a small glass. Can't say I'm impressed but my palette is kind of messy at this point. I had 2 Oktoberfests earlier this evening followed by a Corona Extra (at dinner) then came home and tried the Crispin. Will definitely finish the bottle some time soon and I'm sure it will taste better with a fresh palette.

funny since you can't find a single pumpkin anything on the shelf by november...

+1 about schlafly's (http://schlafly.com/beers/styles/pumpkin-ale/) definitely my favorite.
also, i think the southern tier pumpking is severely overrated.

Not that I'm actively trying or anything but I've never had a pumpkin beer that tastes anything like it contains any part of large orange gourd in any form.

Yeah but you think every single beer in the world tastes like Miller Lite.

Yeah, they should really call it pumpkin pie beer. I'm not a fan of them at all, I like that taste for dessert not in my beer. Well made Oktoberfests get me excited though.

Oktoberfest recommendations? I think the best I recall having is Pauliner but I know virtually nothing about the style.

I enjoy hacker pschorr and paulaner which seem to be widely distributed. I'm sure other smaller craft breweries near you probably put out good ones as well.

koreanbuffet, paulaner is a pretty damn good oktoberfest, so it's hard to go wrong with that. I'll also second wraths' hacker rec. Also look for the schlenkerla marzen rauchbier. It's a smoked oktoberfest styled beer and should be pretty available.

The best question is where do you live? Certain craft recs will be more based on what is available to you

Exactly the same.
Is it me or does Corona tastes different in usa compared to europe?
Being in usa corona tasted a lot better than at home, idk why. I just know that the stuff I drink here is made in spain but at the states its mexico.

Deviant Dale's is really good. IPA lovers definitely should check it out.

I wish Oktoberfest/Pumpkin beers would come out later in the year. It's still 100 degrees here ffs.

Lakefront Brewery Pumpkin Lager: A
The reason I ranked this the highest was because it was the best pure "pumpkin" beer in that it had tons of the spices associated with a good pumpkin beer. Tastes almost like liquid pumpkin pie with lots of cinnamon, some nutmeg, and a (perhaps slightly too strong) lingering clove taste to it. Delicious! 6% ABV

Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale: B+
Fegley's Devious Imperial Pumpkin: B+

I grouped these together because not only were they both imperials, but they both tasted very similar. Decent pumpkin flavor, very malty. Pretty high ABV% for pumpkin beers too at 8 and 9% respectively.

UFO Pumpkin: B-
Nothing crazy complex but a malty sweet pumkin flavor domintates up front. Not a ton of lingering flavor though, ends up bitter (dry?) rather quickly. 5.9% ABV.

Smuttynose Pumpkin Ale: C
I guess I suck at rating beers because this one was the highest ranked one out of the 6 on beeradvocate. Slight taste of pumpkin and bitter hops. Seems like it should be more of an IPA than a pumpkin beer. The beer is extremely dry IMO. 6.0% ABV.

Blue Moon Harvest Pumpkin: F(FFFFFFFFU)
GTFO, you don't even belong in this group. For being a pumpkin ale there was hardly any pumpkin flavor or any of the associated flavors like clove/cinammon. If I wasn't told it was a pumpkin ale I never would have known. 5.7% ABV.

Bumping for some of the pumpkins I had last year

Snagged this when I went to Wegman's. They had about 8 or 9 different brands and I couldn't decide so I just grabbed this one. Average at best. 4/10

Saranac Pumpkin Ale
Split a case of this with my neighbor after seeing it at a distributor at only $22.99. It's pretty good for a normal beer-type beer but there isn't a lot of pumpkin flavor to it. 6/10

RiverHorse Imperial Pumpkin
Was excited to try this because I've heard good things about RiverHorse but was not impressed at all. No pumpkin flavor at all and the neighbor paid something like $10 for a 4-pack. Save your money. 2/10

Couple more from last year

If you haven't tried Abita Satsuma, I suggest you do before it goes back out of season. So delicious.

Drinking a 6er of Stone IPA tonight. Mmm.

visiting NYC for the weekend and i would love some beer recommendations. i live in CA and there is a ton of stuff here i cannot get at home (founders, for instance).

i appreciate most styles but particularly love big porters and stouts. i'll try any IPA, but only really love the flavor/aroma heavy ones with moderate bitterness. founders centennial IPA is one of my favorites, but i rarely get it.

so, what can i get here that doesn't make it to the west coast?
