What is your favorite beer? What is your favorite beer?

Yeah I don't know what to say about that, just included it for the picture. Ratebeer has it at 4.5%, Beeradvocate at 4.3%, both of which actually seem kinda low to me. When I had on tap I can assure you that it did not taste like a 3.9% beer.

Kinda funny because this is almost exactly how my palate developed. I went from drinking cheap college **** which I hate. Then it was only marginally bad. Then I could stand it. Then I tried some mass wheats like Blue Moon and liked those much better. Tried some Ales/IPAs and just couldn't stand them. Thought they tasted like old socks. Started drinking reds/browns next and drank Newcastle exclusively for probably a year.

Later I got into stouts and porters. Still drink Guinness to this day because it's easy on my stomach. But eventually I started to really appreciate a good IPA as I would go to breweries and always get the sampler. Now IPA is usually my go to and that stone beer is incredible.

I do still have an appreciation for "good" beers of each variety. As I said in my first post I absolutely love Chimay and it's a standard ale. Though I'll admit the white (cinq cents) is my favorite and it IS super dry. Funny how this stuff works.

+1. When F1 was in its short stint at Indianapolis for the US Grand Prix there was a year (and possibly more, i only went the once) where like, 20oz cans of Fosters were the only beer that was allowed to be sold. So not only was it ****, I had paid $10 for it and was not happy about it.

HAHA!

Heading to the store right now with the wife. Only thing I added to the list was a 12 pack of Leinenkugel variety pack longnecks. Gonna cut the grass later then smash some Summer Shandys.

one time i had a keg party in my apartment when i was 18, was going to be a huge deal with hundreds of people coming, so we let our 21 year old friend be in charge of getting the keg, thinking he'd come back with miller or bud or something like that. instead, he came back with fosters, which we found out was his favorite beer. talk about a great way to get people not to drink at a kegger, i still had at least half a keg after the party was over. we all rag on him about it to this day.

This is tough, but I think it's going to have to be Newcastle.

America produces some magnificent beer. Luckily, it is getting easier to purchase a decent range of International beers over here with each passing year. Feeling the IPA love, and a particular favourite is:

The Goose Island range is very solid for a widely distributed range. This is especially good:

Surprised at the love of Guinness in the States. I know it will sound cliched, but if you boys like it over there you'd savour a decent pint on this side of the Atlantic. It doesn't travel well at all in my experience.

That said, if Irish stout is your thing, pick this up if you ever see it for sale:

This is also a very good review resource for those of you interested in giving new stuff a whirl:

Beer is a very personal thing. Loads of people are not going to develop a taste for porters / ales or anything outside of lagers. And that is fair enough. That said, I think a lot of people never try things off the beaten track. It's easier these days to get variety beers than ever before. Any lad who likes his few drinks owes himself some tasting at the very least.

some still drank from the keg, but a lot of people didn't drink. also, there was some byob going on, and byos. it was still a good party, but for how many people were there, the keg should have been empty by the end of that party.

as far as what brands people brought with them, not too sure, it was like 12 years ago this happened, if i had to guess, bud/miller/coors/natty light etc.

Sounds similar to my taste evolution. I think that a good IPA is kind of like the endpoint that many people reach in terms of a favorite style of beer, but not many people start out liking them.

This is true. Victoria Bitter (VB) is the big beer there.

All the Texas people here should say Shiner. The summer seasonal Ruby Red Grapefruit is actually really good, not too sweet at all and very refreshing.
Honestly, though, I can't ever go wrong with a good Budweiser. Definitely a go to beer.

Shiner Bock's a good beer but it's not the best bock I've had. Haven't seen Ruby Red Grapefruit here in Houston yet. I'll keep my eye out for it though.

Ziegenbock is another good Texas amber.
