This would be a great analogy except for the small fact that Fat Tire isn't a brown ale

Fat Tire isn't bad, but pretty much everything else that New Belgium brews is better.
grab a "Folly Pack" if they're still available.

this is included and excellent:

Meh, Trippel is much better than Fat Tire, but it's still meh. I'd take a 2 Below or a 1554 by them over either of those.

IMO, for a Belgium.

Agree with both 100%. I'm aging a 4-pack of the stout just for the hell of it even though the alcohol isn't that hot when drank fresh. Both are beautiful beer. I've never had a bad beer from Green Flash.

Been on a heavy Russian Imperial Stout kick lately (particularly the barrel aged variety). Somebody needs to teach me how to post pics out of my iPhoto - but the beers I've been drinking lately have been:

Brooklyn Black Ops
Victory Dark Intrigue
New Holland Dragons Milk
Mikkeller Fra Til
Mikkeller Santa's Little Helper
Port Brewing Santa's Little Helper
Southern Tier Chokolat
Hoppin Frog BORIS

I'm hosting a tasting Sunday for the Giants/Cowboys game and I'll be trying out

AleSmith Speedway Stout
Rogue Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout
Hoppin Frog DORIS

Not the easiest method probably. But you could email the photos to yourself, host them on imageshack.us and then supply the link.

Among My Favs:
- Celebrator Dopplebock
- Young's Double Chocolate Stout
- One of the Chimays (my wife knows which but I forget the color, probably white)
- McEwans Scotch Ale
- New Belgium 1554
- Some other more irregular stuff...

Among My Regs: Basically I drink these semi-regularly with friends and if I am going to a party or get together, I pick these guys up as the basics that go well with most everyone. I think these are good starter beers for anyone who is starting to get into "good" beer.
- Guinness varieties
- Sam Adams varieties
- New Belgium varieties

I will also accept Shiner Bock if given it at a gathering (if there isn't anything else available). I will decline anything like Budweiser, Bud Light, Corona, Natty, Lonestar, Miller, Coors, et cetera, even if it is the only beverage available and I am literally dying of dehydration.

picked up six pack of this, big aroma with malty flavor and tons of spice (chocolate, cinammon, nutmeg, maybe clove and some other stuff i couldn't pick out) hops are present but get overpowered by everything else going on...i'm personally a fan of spiced beers but i had a couple other people try it and they thought it was too much, its pretty cheap and imo worth a try though

Wow. Well, if you were referring to me, I consider anything equal to and above Sam Adams/New Belgium/Guinness to be pretty good, with my favs above being significantly better than that. Hardly a beer snob if I think most Sam Adams varieties are pretty damn alright.

I shouldn't drink and post obviously but recommending Guinness to a lifelong Budweiser drinker is not the way to go. Its completely different than what they're used to, its awful when its not from a tap, and frankly at 4.2% its a joke for its price. And I don't know how good the non-"boston lagers" are, but Sam Adams is just another macrobrew and the BL itself its not good at all or should I say not really any better than any other domestic macro lager.

Fair enough.

I should note that I am not on speaking terms with "all" of the Samuel Adams varieties either. I am pretty alright with some of the seasonals like Octoberfest, Winter Lager, Holiday Porter, and I also dig the Black Lager. I still think that BL is better than other macro-brew, but I am quite certain that Sam Adams is big enough that process may occasionally start buckling under the weight of cost-efficiency. For instance, I certainly don't think that the recent brews (last couple of years) of Chocolate Bock included in the winter seasonal boxes are as good as some of the Chocolate Bock's from SA that I had like 5 or 6 years ago.

I will admit to being on good terms with the Draught version of Guinness that you mentioned, but I was also talking about other versions of the stout as well. And you are definitely right, I prefer it from the tap.

Sorry if I came off insulting regarding the other macro-brews. Mostly I was just trying to be funny, but I don't prefer them.

Grue, we could spend many a warm night cuddled up on the couch just chatting about how bad Sam Adams products are and how whenever we walk into a bar and Sam Adams is the only CRAFT beer availableit makes us want to cut ourselves. When this happens I usually choose Guinness and cringe at the crappy options.
