mcmenamins beer is totally meh, at least their normal beers. Occasionally they have some interesting seasonals. The best part is the different "specials" they have at each location on the menu. However, eating there forces you to deal with what is basically the worst service imaginable, REGARDLESS OF THE LOCATION. Never seen a group of restaurants have worse service, its like every location is under staffed and the wait service has zero sense of urgency, ever.

Picked up a 6 pack of Sierra Nevada Tumbler autumn brown ale tonight. So far so good.

Chimay Ale is my favorite by taste. Sierra Nevada is my favorite because I drank it on some of the best days of my life.

I volunteered to pour at the Great American Beer Fest here in Denver. 2500+ beers. I did not try them all (tried 70 or so), but I didn't have anything that was bad. The sour styles were not great to try after an IPA.

I was able to pick one of these up out here a week ago. Very good. Not sweet or spicy, just a solid flavor and smooth.

Im a really huge fan of Sam Adams. Love the Boston Lager and look forward to the seasonal brews, Winter Lager being my favourite. Some of their stuff is hit or miss but I usually like anything they put out. In the future Im going to be trying some other American beers, the rarer harder to find ones. I cant stand most domestic stuff, not a huge fan of Heineken or any of the usual foreign beers either.

If anyone wants to go backwards I'll start going forwards and list any beer mentioned. Including the following information in my spread sheet.

Beer Name/Brewery Name/State or Country/Style/#of times mentioned

I got up to post 25 and got tired of doing it. Will do more later or others can jump in the spread sheet and help. If you can't discern what kind of beer they mean don't add it. IE people said "Dos Equis", it's hard to know if they meant Dos Equis Amber or Dos Equis Special. I've been using www.beeradvocate.com to search the beers and get the relevant information. If you add on let us know what post you left off on so we don't double dip. Thanks!

where do you live? pretty much any area that has sam adams getting distributed must have some local beers/breweries that are much better than sam adams. sam adams is decent if you are used to drinking st ides 40 oz, bud/miller/coors or heineken. i just hate sam adams to begin with so i will end rant now.

lol, I haven't seen st.dies in the longest, I drank all sorts of malt liquor when I was underaged.

Colt 45 double-malt ftw

I'll pile on McMenamins. I love the buildings they restore and they have some great locations, but yes, their beer is very underwhelming. I also truly hate their food. I used to live right by the Bagdad and actively encouraged people not to go there.

Love Golden Monkey. Hard to believe that it's almost 10% abv from the taste as it seems more like 5-6%. If you can find it, pick up the Victory variety case. It's got a 6-pack each of Golden Monkey, Prima Pils, Hopdevil (DELICIOUS), and their Lager which I liked better than Yuengling. They had a couple cases at my local distributor yesterday for a little over $40

Just tried Joseph James' Hop Box IPA and was quite pleased with it. It's brewed here locally in Vegas so I don't know if it is widely available. But if you live in NV, I recommend a taste. You can get it at Lee's.

having lived in seattle from ages 21 to 31, i have had the opportunity to try amazing locally crafted beers from WA/OR/and Nor Cal. Elysian remains my favorite, but i will be damned if i didn't go to MA for a wedding and have Sam Adams on tap at the Providence airport and it wasn't the best thing I had ever tasted. I don't know if it was the excitement of the trip, proximity to the brewery or what, but it was effing phenomenal. It tastes like poop everywhere else i have had it.
