RIS is probably the most accessible craft beer style, in that you don't need to have a super refined palate in order to taste chocolate/vanilla/molasses/etc. Unlike, say, Belgians where the yeasts are acquired tastes and you don't see too many newbies jumping into that style and appreciating it as much as a veteran of the genre.

I almost bought a 6 pack of Ruination last weekend but I was put off by the price ($20/6 pack) and thought I would ask you guys if it is worth it? Also I finally got some Founders Breakfast stouts and it is absolutely delicious.

Right now I'm drinking one of these bottled about 16 months ago.

Anyone else had it? So far I think it's really good.

its good but not worth $20/6 though imo...should be able to find a bomber at a decent price to give it a try

This was great and nothing like any beers I'm used to drinking. quite complex.

No ****, I made a comment about Imperial Stouts (and IPAs) being overrated in this exact thread and was made fun of for that comment.

Was lucky enough to score a bottle of Founder's KBS yesterday. I thought it was great and a perfect example of that style of beer but my SO (who had most of it) thought it was a bit too alcohol-ey and at 11.2 ABV she may be right. But I drink 2xIPAs all the time and thought it was fine. Can't believe a 4 pack of 12oz sells for $75 on ebay.

Feel free to start a thread on pilsners. Until then... lol...

Picked up a 12 pack of Bud Light Platinum longnecks tonight.

$11.99 for a 12 pack. 6% ABV I thought hey that's a good alcohol value let me try it.

Tastes slightly better than the typical piss beer you'd expect, however the alcohol content is certainly nice and for $1 a beer I'm pretty pleased. On number 5 right now.

If I'm ever looking to drink heavily and not blow a lot of money I will certainly consider it again. I'm not balla enough to always buy St. Bernardaus Abt 12.

Kudos Bud Light brand for at least trying to recapture market share lost to the high ABV readily-accessible Belgians.

Total Wine has Sierra Nevada Torpedo 12-pack for $11.99, which is 7.2% and doesn't taste like piss.

I think some cheapass vodka and OJ would suffice for what you're looking for, tbh.

I didn't mean to imply it was the cheapest alcohol by any means. I had a couple friends who said it wasn't too bad so I also just wanted to try it just because.

My local beer store had bombers of an abita pilsner that were 4$ off so only 2$ each and at 7% I bought them all. Quite refreshing

Also paid 17$ for a 25oz beer from eggenberg brewery called samichlaus. Was pretty incredibly at 14%.

I get 20% off beer so all 7.50$ 6 packs become 1$ per bottle. 4 packs of SN pints were on sale for 6$ but I couldn't pull the trigger for just under 5$

I don't get the hype and price of Dog Fish Head. I've had many of their brews whether they are run of the mill 6 packs or limited release growlers and in general they just come up short imo. Yes, they are creative with their ingredients, but often I'm disappointed. I just tried the Chicory Stout to give them another shot, and again I'm left with a pretty unimpressive, bland, depthless, overpriced beer.

The good news is that I have a new Lagunitas growler in the fridge...and they rarely disappoint.

Dogfish Head's IPA's (and IPA spinoffs) are really their strong suit. The 90 minute / Imperial, the Indian Brown Ale, and their Burton Baton are all exceptional. The 60 minute is also very good.

For non-IPA beers, their fall Punkin Ale is one of the better pumpkin ales (my favorite is Schlafly though). The Palo Santo Marron is also wonderful. I haven't tried the Worldwide Stout--it's quite expensive--but it's supposed to be phenomenal.

I agree that things like their Chicory Stout and Raison D'Être are very disappointing. But then I don't really care for most beers with those kinds of added flavors. I do like pumpkin ales, the occasional coffee porter/stout, and Abita has a pecan ale that I really like, but most of Dogfish Head's weird brews just don't do it for me.

I'm a huge snob when it comes to beer, I'll be the first to admit it.
Offered to buy a girl a drink at a bar in LA once and she asked for Bud Light Lime, I told her to pick again.
Name 10 great beers that are sold in cans and I might rethink my statement, but generally for beer its keg>bottle>can
