In PA I can find cases of Bigfoot in most distributors. I find it to be bitter as hell - I'm aging a 6er and hoping I'll enjoy it in a year.

Yeah, Sierra Nevada. Shouldn't be too hard to find, they distrubute to all 50 states.

I had the '11 and a '12 last night. A year does wonders for this beer. I'm sure the '06 is past its peak and the '07 may be borderline as well. But the '08, '09 and '10 should all be really, really good.

Yep it's pretty awesome (Bigfoot Barleywine Style)

I noticed that a lot of people collect it and age it, anyone know anything about this? Do you have to buy it not chilled and keep it at cellar temperature or what?

Ugh, was so disappointed by this, thought it was awful. What did you like about it?

You'll want to keep them standing up and around 50f. As with wine, it depends on what is being bought irt aging. Since this post is about barleywines that won't be a problem as they can age like any quality red wine. I've had 15 yr old barleywines that tasted like a young vintage port, so it definitely could've gone longer

Firestone Walker XV.

My gawd this is fantastic. Of course, at >$20 a bottle it better be. Sadly, not much of it left available, but it's been a heavenly brew.

Of more regularly available brews? I suppose Avery Maharaja or Firestone Walker Double Jack.

If you like the 15, you will like the Sucuba as well. It should be available if you got 15 and should be less than $20 / bottle.

good taste and very drinkable. but it is very possible that i suck worse at beer than i thought, so take my opinion for what its worth.

do most people like dale's pale ale? my guess is yes, but i find that not very drinkable. its too hoppy/alcoholy. SN Ruthless Rye didnt have these issues.

MCizz - too spicy? hmm, i didnt find this at all. weird.

don't take that POV. If you can say why you liked it and what you liked about it compared to other beers, that's not that big of a deal IMO. Plus, it has a 3.93 avg on BA with 695 reviews. So, you're not the only person who has liked it a lot

Hey if you like it don't let anyone else tell you otherwise... I like a lot of beers that people generally hate

Also do I know you? I live in PB.

MCizz - you are right, it is spicy on the front end. i kind of like that, but can see how you might not like it.

I can't think of anyone i know off the top of my head living in PB these days, so we probably don't know each other.

I had an Evil Twin (out of Denmark) Yang double IPA tonight. It was a very well balanced beer. The flavor & aroma definitely reflected a hop bomb but there was absolutely none of the harsh bitterness you can get with some beers that use a lot of hops. Well worth the taste if you come across it.

On a side note, if you're in the Phoenix area some friends & I are brewing at my place tomorrow. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you're interested in stopping by & checking out the brewing process.

Ugh. Macrobrew Light is so 1980s.

Another example of Americans just taking what is spoon-fed to them ("The Super Bowl commercial was just TOO cool! Lemme have one of those! Everyone else seems to be doing it!")

Try something obscure next time.
