Yo, man? What's your second favorite beer, Milwaukee's Best with tomato juice?
Go ahead and laugh everyone, because my second favorite beer is Bud Light Lime . I am preparing myself for the forthcoming comments/insults/flaming/etc...

I'm having a lot of Hacker Pschorr wheat at the moment as it's new at my liquor store. I'm also collecting the nice bottles they come in for homebrewing.

My favorite beer is still La Fin Du Monde. It it also the best bang for your buck as far as beer goes at $6/750ml compared to $14/6pack for the cheapest Bud/Labatt/Molson.

How common is it for beer to have a little bit of rum or some other liquor in it? I had a beer at some point that I think had rum in it, it could have been something else but I'm pretty positive it was rum. It was from a brewery in or around Ohio I think, but no one I've talked to has ever heard anything about this.

Any helps?

Did it come in a 24 oz can for $1 at a gas station? Did you have trouble walking after you had one? If so, you had a cheap malt liquor, and the flavor probably came from corn sugars.

Such things are pretty popular in third world countries such as Ohio.

It was probably a Dark and Stormy. Two parts ginger beer, one part dark rum. I know whenever I'm in Bermuda I end up consuming quite a few cans, I can't imagine it's that rare in the States.

There's a bunch of beers aged in rum/whiskey/other liquor barrels in the market. You might have had one of those. There's too many to try and guess what specific one you had though.

Haha no, it was bottled and sold at The Andersons, they have a bunch of obscure beers. I wasn't sure if it was a common thing. I'll just keep checking.

Could have been Hoppin Frog B.O.R.I.S (Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout). Helluva beer if you had it. They are from Columbus, OH.

Never seen it in my life.

I do know however that this is technically no longer beer but considered a malt beverage instead (as is anything made with more than malt, water, hops, and yeast).

I do however LOVE strong ales and stouts that have been aged in whiskey barrels, the flavor is really noticeable.

The DFH 120 was interesting - I don't think I'd go too far out of my way to find another. That was the 2nd I'd had - my 1st was about a month ago. The beer tastes nothing like an IPA but I'm glad I tried 2.

The Ten Fidy is a great RIS - I just noticed that you can see my DFH120 empty in the picture.

I think you're doing it wrong. Get the bottle of Black, get some cans of Stones g beer. Don't forget the squeeze of lime. Forget the premixed cans (..tho they're not really that bad). You'll have a better night making your own

Drinking a mix pack of one of my standard beers:

None of them are amazing or different, but just really solid normal beers. Basically if you have a friend that only drinks Bud/Miller/whatever, these would be a good set to show them better versions of the beers they like.

I live in STL. If you make it back you must go to International Tap House in Soulard. Excellent beer menu.

I also tries SN's Rye IPA and wasn't very impressed.

Eh, I'm not mixing the drinks, on like cruise excursions those are staples in the tour guides' coolers.

Sounds like you had a beer aged in a barrel. Rum flavored sounds weird though.

Tried a few Duvels tonight, enjoyed them. For a light-colored beer they were pretty good. Went to a lounge that had a sub-par beer menu and Duvel was the only one that sounded decent.

duvel is great

not sure if you just have a personal preference for darker colored beers, but there are a million awesome light-colored beers - don't let that dissuade you from trying them

I drink a lot of schlafly but imo their only beer of real merit is the Pumpkin. Great flavor not over spiced bottled at a hefty ABV. Very nice seasonal. Everything else is decent but cheap.

Gotcha. Didn't realise you were trapped by circumstances. I lived there for several yrs and we would only get the premixed cans in desperation.
Local's choice is almost invariably black n coke; dark n stormy's seen as tourist drink, but I liked em.

I'm not the biggest beer connoisseur, my favorite is usually just some Newcastle Brown. My current flavor of the month though, in a big way, is this one:

Terrapin Hopsecutioner

their pumpkin ale is by far my favorite. i think it's better than SouthernTier's, which usually tops the "best of" lists.

Had a bunch of their beers (Hoppy Feet Black IPA, Brown Booty, etc.) and only one that wasn't above average was the Pecan Pie one. I could picture drinking it with some vanilla ice cream for dessert, but was a lot on its own (though I guess that's what you should expect from a pecan pie beer).
