For whatever reason I can't get into that stuff. Very "sludgey" to me. Same with Dead Guy and similar beers. I like cleaner hoppier doubles (Torpedo is my go to lately when I can't find anything more interesting) but Stone hasn't impressed me at all. Its not bad but yeah lol @ $18/6 pack in a liquor store.

$18 for a sixer is probably the oaked version.

Liquor store close to me has Victory mixed 12 packs (4 each of Prima Pils, Hop Devil and Golden Monkey) perpetually on sale for $14.99. That's pretty hard to beat imo.

you haven't been to binny's? I know they have victory beers at ivanhoe and lincoln park. Maybe not the sampler, but they definitely will have some selections from victory (including hop devil, prima pils, and golden monkey)

Was kind of disappointed by Stone Ruination, but I think only because I was expecting a literal explosion of IBUs in my mouth that destroyed my palate for all-time. It was good, but I'd prefer to drink their IPA.

I've come to the conclusion that I don't like Anderson Valley after trying their oatmeal stout and their summer solstice. The solstice was on sale @ $4.99 / 6pack, so I got tricked into buying the whole thing. Really got sick of it after two. The creaminess is too heavy for a summer drink imo, and it's more sticky than creamy.

Did like Hoptober, more than their Fat Tire amber.

Also tried Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier, could probably drink that all day.

btw anyone live by a Total Wine? it's like heaven for me... way better beer selection than any other megastore like BevMo, tons of single 12oz / pints available to choose from to sample, and all the prices beat like any other liquor/grocery store's sale prices. the feeling i get shopping there is probably similar to the euphoria women get going clothes shopping. </alcoholic>

yeah total wine is awesome, the one by me has like 1000 beers on the single aisle, it takes me a good 30 minutes to put the perfect sixer together, and even then im never sure if i am missing value somewhere.

Yes, the 'oaked' AB is quite expensive. I've only bought it a couple of times. But the other 6 packs are usually $12 and the 22oz bottles are $6.

Hop Stoopid by Lagunitas is also good and pretty damn cheap at $5 22oz.

I'm American and I hate Heineken. My favorite beer that's common on tap is Bass. If I want a light beer I usually go with Amstel and for an ultra light beer I like Becks Premier Light.

I drank a few Newcastles on sunday and i thought they were awful. What is appealing about that beer to those of you who have named it your favorite?
