diebitter recommended this in another podcast thread. I've just listened to all of them and thought they were great, especially if you're a fan of the show.

It's 30mins of the QI 'elves' discussing the most interesting facts they'd found that week, and considering they are not comedians or professional entertainers they're actually quite funny a lot of the time.

- The Moth Podcast (storytelling show)
- My Brother, My Brother and Me (3 brothers answer advice questions)
- The Nerdist

Couple of new ones I found recently:

The Specialist (short pod about people who do weird jobs)
You Must Remember This (pod on Hollywood history - hs an awesome 12 part series on the Manson murders)
Note To Self (pod about "the human side of tech". Kinda nerdy but I love it)

Just discovered Malcolm Gladwell's foray into the podcast world. Not really his typical thing, it's a well done and interesting look into things into things from history that he believes have been overlooked.

Keeping it 1600. Ringer network. 2 former Obama aides + guest talk politics of the week. Often funny. Not too serious. Aware of their bias.

The Gladwell podcast was worth a listen. Occasionally got preachy, but not overly.

I'm so glad that Norm is back! Just listened to the interview with Stephen Merchant. Norm is great as always and Merchant is a great counterpart to Norm's style.

Sam Harris I'm familiar with, and a big fan. Could you put a one line description of the other three (save my lazy ass from downloading three new podcasts without any idea of what I'm getting).

Thanks!

I am a big fan of History podcasts and recommend MartyrMade, The Rhine, and the British History Podcast.

I've listened to all the Hardcore Histories (I think) except the Prophets of Doom. The subject doesn't seem that interesting to me, but is it good?

Jay and Farhad Show. Tech podcast that discusses one company each week and talks about its strategy.

TRUMP CAST from Slate. They've been around since the primaries. They talk about Trump and have one guy reads Trumps tweets that makes an amazing imitation.

Sam Harris' Waking Up
The Tim Ferris Show - Author of "The Four Hour Workweek" Guests are all over the map as Ferris invites people to talk about a broad range of subjects that interest him, but primarily with a focus on the importance of continuing education, productivity and self improvement.
Bulletproof Radio - Boihacking podcast focusing on health and wellness, both physical and mental.

this could also be used to describe tim ferriss' podcast fwiw w0x

tim ferriss / sam harris / joe rogan are all in the same friends group and sam has popped up on both their podcasts a couple of times.

lastly, fans of sam should check out the whole hannibal burress incident from recently which is pretty funny

That's actually my fave episode of HH and one I advise people to start with when I recommend the pod to them. Such a crazy escalation of events and a good compartmentalised story that only requires a 1 episode commitment.

EDIT: I didnt really enjoy the first ep of the latest HH series - seemed all over the place. First one I haven't got into. Does it improve with ep 2?

Sam Harris's podcasts are pretty terrible. He's a good interview subject, but most of his podcasts are just very monotonous monologues. Also, records at an insanely high bitrate so the individual episodes are HUGE, something like 400MB for a single episode.

Sam's podcasts are definitely inconsistent. It really depends on the topic he is going to discuss. He's discussing his own book "The End Of Faith" in his most recent episode. It's kind of ridiculous to tell us what you mean in your own book in a podcast episode. If I wanted to read it, I would get it myself.

I just finished Dan Carlin's Prophets of Doom

It took several sessions. 4.5 hours was pretty long. It wasn't as compelling for me as other episodes, I guess mostly because the events really had nothing like the significance of the others. It was an interesting story and a dramatic ending. And I certainly learned some things about the beginnings of Protestantism.

Yeah, I enjoy that one mainly for the story aspect and the weird escalation of events rather than any historical significance.

Discovered another good pod this week- the Unresolved podcast. True crime and mystery stories. All unsolved, obv.

I will let my wife know about that one. She's all about true crime stuff.

Are they all like psycho sex torture cases? My 14yo daughter was really into Serial and maybe she'd like it.
