Most of the guests reminisce about "back in the day", it's great and genuine pod. The stuff at the end with his assistant and the comedian/producer is great too. The best eps are the one's with people that do the same job, or have worked at the same job, as him. Colbert, Stern, Kimmel, Bill Hader, other SNL people are all great.

Will listen to it again tonight.

Newest WTF podcast with Jerry Seinfeld was pretty interesting. Jerry and Marc clearly come at it from completely opposite ends of the comedy spectrum. Jerry sees it as entertainment, Marc sees it as philosophy.

This was also the first episode after Lynn Shelton's sudden passing (Marc's long time partner), and he keeps it together reasonably well. My dad and older brother rave about this show, I've only just begun to pick it up.

Solid rec.

jish,

That totally goes along with what I know about Seinfeld. Also, Maron. I haven't listened to Maron in forever but his whole thing was that he did standup to vent. Norm or someone was like, I'm more about telling jokes.

eta: Oh, you're new to it. Yeah, there's a reason Maron wasn't a famous comic. Situation where borderline pro makes great coach (interviewer in this case ldo).

Roberta Glass True Crime Report. She's really good and refreshingly factual and BS free

The Ringer has a new sports card podcast, which will probably suck but it's interesting to see where new financial bubbles have started up.

Just seen one of my favourite podcasts, No Such Thing as a Fish, has recently done a charity podcast marathon. If you've not heard it, it's the researchers (elves) from the tv panel show QI talking about interesting facts they've researched.

For their marathon they've got a bunch of guests, famous comedians, scientists, podcasters, actors, etc. The one that stuck out to me, and did a great job, was Corey Taylor, singer from Slipknot and Stone Sour. A weird juxtaposition of this hobnobbing with v.sensible Oxbridge intellectuals.

Crime in Sports: https://podbay.fm/p/crime-in-sports

It’s by the same pair who do Small Town Murder, and actually came before Small Town Murder. I’m baffled that it is so much less popular than Small Town Murder. It’s the exact same show, except the criminals are athletes, and their crimes aren’t always murder.

Any recs for fictional podcasts that are completed? I have a lot of driving in my future and have canceled Sirius, lol. Scifi or horror, maybe? I don’t want to start something that’s ongoing though.

Any recs for something that’s like an episode of a TV show, but longer and with a complete story arc?

Spoiler:
What rick said.

This one is a bit esoteric, but if you are at all interested in older country music, Cocaine and Rhinestones is fantastic. Interesting, very deeply researched background of artists and songs that are usually just a blip. Heavily annotated website to go with it. For those people who think to themselves, "you know, I'd really like to spend two hours learning about the song Ode to Billie Joe." But also, I wouldn't have said I was one of those people, and found it very engaging. (The Spade Cooley episode is messed up.....dude tortured and murdered his wife in front of his teenage daughter, and was set to be pardoned nine years later; but since there apparently is karma in the world, he died the day he learned of his pardon).

The host is one of the hosts of Your Favorite Band Sucks, which I listen to on occasion, but it gets a bit repetitive for me (it's mostly, "this band stole from X and Y bands who did it way better, so go listen to them").

Dead Eyes is a fantastic podcast that can be recommended to virtually anyone. Really grabs you from the first episode.

Bill Maher actually has his own podcast now called Club Random. It's awesome, just he and his friends chilling in Bill's house. Bill smokes weed and gets high. His guests sometimes smoke as well.

Favorite ep is probably Woody Harrelson, they are close friends and both get totally baked and just keep cracking each other up, it's hysterical. The loose format really suits Bill, I like it better than his TV show.

I binged this whole series last night. Insane that all of Hollywood knew about nearly exactly what happened, and instead of holding anyone accountable they just made movies about it, alluding to details here and there. The surrealist crap with Mullholland Drive, the straight corruption on display in Mullholland Falls. Personally I think 8mm was born out of Cage's (or whoever's) knowing the story of the German guy that the cops listened to on stakeout. The cops heard a woman screaming in the Franklin house. Then thuds of the man or men beating her to death with a pipe (or something). I think they made a snuff film that night, possibly with Dr Hodel's Kodak 8mm home movie camera.

So many people instrumental to the foundation of LA were likely involved

He came off as bi-polar and would just go crazy in the chat. I assume he was going through some stuff and talks about it on the podcast? It was just a few years ago that I learned that livb was Busquet.
