A few True Crime Pod Reviews:

Dr. Death - good. What a creep

Last Seen - very good. I love heist stories

Death in Ice Valley - SUPER interesting for those into true crime. Has international espionage in it, making it extra engrossing (to me)

Thunder Bay - halfway through it but really into it. About one of the murder/hate crime capitals of Canada (I had never even heard of it). Has a few different elements to it, the main one so far being the complications involving indigenous ppl from nearby reservations

If you soured on Serial after Season 1 (the Adnan Syed case) I'd urge you to give Season 3 a try. They spent a year in the Cleveland court system talking to judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys and defendants about the court system at a street level. It's extremely interesting and informative especially if you've never been a part of that world.

Currently also listening to Serial season 3.

New one I added called 'An Arm and a Leg' about American Healthcare and Health Insurance.

Both my wife and myself have graduate degrees and we are completely at the mercy of the insurance company not screwing us over because we don't have time for a full second job to try to understand what the **** is going on with medical insurance. If we can't understand it, just think how ****ed other people are.

I enjoyed Serial season 1. Season 2 not so much. 4 Eps into season 3 and finding it fascinating. It's kind of like a podcast version of Bonfire of the Vanities.

Not necessarily just a selection of music, but two that are tangentially related are:

http://songexploder.net/ where an artist breaks down a song they created and the song is played at the end.

I gave up on Bill Simmons's regular podcast a while ago, but I have been loving The Rewatchables, where they just spend an hour or more yapping about one of those movies that you've seen a hundred times.

The sad part is that you need the visual component. Audio podcasts are superior for listening to while driving. Video would be a potentially dangerous distraction. Do you have the same feelings for print media (do you prefer books with pictures?)?

The guys from Cinema Sins often dip into a variety of movies. Lately, they've been doing a series of episodes where they're virtually road tripping across the US, talking about movies set in a particular state.

Movie Crush with Chuck Bryant of "Stuff you should know" has a show where he brings on a guest and they go deep on that person's favorite movie.

I went on a business trip (lots of driving) and was in the mood to listen to some chicks talking about sex because why not. So I found Sex with Emily and I crushed about 4-6 hours worth of episodes. First off, she has an incredibly sexy radio voice and energy. The topics are also highly entertaining and arousing and she converses with honesty that is refreshing. Finally, if you want to better understand what women need in the bedroom it's a fantastic show. There are a few others out there very similar and all of them are connected in one way or another (guest on each others show, etc).

BBC has a new series covering the case of former middleweight boxing contender Hurricane Carter, over 40 hours of interviews with Carter, his codefendant and other key players was discovered/released these tapes are the focus of the program new episodes every Monday currently 4 are available.

I use pocket cast, good app and works well with Android Auto. It's not free though (4 bucks I think).

Anyone who liked Serial should def check out In the Dark... even better imo.
