This is a nice, light listen. In the same vein and on the same network (earwolf), Who Charted with Howard Kremer and Kulap Vilaysack. They spend about 10 minutes on pop culture and the rest of the show ****ing around. They have great comedic chemistry and love busting each others chops.

American History Tellers

The latter covers different events in American history over multi-part series. It's sort of like Revolutions in that sense only the themes are centered around American history.

I've been listening to Revolutions. I'm through the English and American and about a third of the way through the French. It's very good and informative. It's not super great on the narrative/big picture/analysis/entertainment, though it's good in all those respects. Sometimes maybe a little too detailed, especially in the battles of the American Revolution. I guess listening to the details will leave a lasting impression, but I'll never remember the stuff like troop movements and whether or not they had artillery.

Haven't read this entire thread but if you like sports and sports betting: "against all odds with cousin sal" is a good one. Sadly only updated once a week, though.

30 for 30 podcasts are interesting too - sports stories going a bit deeper into culture / broader impacts of sports events.

NPR's "wait wait don't tell me" is another good one if you've heard the show before

My Dad Wrote a Porno - A guy finds out his dad has written, and self-published, an erotic novel. Each week he reads a chapter to two of his friends and they discuss it.

The novel is terrible but the podcast is very, very funny, and has become a massive hit.

Dan Carlin repeats himself too much, but I still quite like hardcore history.

I quite like most Sam Harris podcasts. He’s got a fairly wide range and they’re fairly deep.

Ear Hustle - A prison podcast created as part of a San Quentin program for prisoners. It’s hosted by a prisoner and has some great interviews of prisoners. Give it a listen, it’s great.

I thought this started well but then became unnecessarily drawn out with lots of thin episodes that didn’t advance anything. Felt like a bunch of eps were just done for ad dollars.

Recently been listening to a few things I don’t recall being mentioned itt:

Masters in Business - Bloomberg interviews with business peeps.

How I built this - NPR interviews with founders about their business origin stories.

James Altucher Show - really hit and miss interviews with entrepreneurs and business mavericks. He’s a terrible interviewer but has interesting guests. Sometimes a train wreck but the best episodes are gold.

Jocko Podcast - intense but good humoured war stories and life lessons from an ex Navy SEAL.

This got really annoying.

Last episode he said new ones every two weeks. He lied!

A new Interesting Things Well Explained is out. Topics are Jonestown and the Gregirian calendar. I found the first topic interesting because my brother was a C-141 pilot, based at McGuire AFB, and flew to Guyana to bring back the bodies.

Citations Needed is my favorite at the moment.

Last week's episode was incredible. You know when the media reports "ISIS New Year's Eve Terror Plot Foiled"? What has actually happened is that the FBI spent months or years tricking a mentally ill person into agreeing to a fake ISIS plot, and then arrested them for it.
