What do you eat? What do you eat?

There are different strands of this thread that I find interesting.

What I do eat:
Standard breakfast for me is coffee, some type of bar, and an apple.

Lunches vary, but pretty common to get a sandwich from Jimmy John's, Subway, or Panera (most convenient places to my office). Also pretty common for me to grab something from Whole Foods. Today's lunch is one of my favorites:

Dinner is whatever my wife makes, tailored mainly towards kids. I often cook dinners on weekends, where my favorites are probably steak and pasta carbonara.

Also love homemade smoothies. Vitamix GOAT.

What I like and don't like to eat (relative to other people):
Things I like more than most:
- Pineapple
- Candy corn
- Chipotle burrito bowls
- Fish tacos (not even sure why, but it's almost an auto-order for me at mid-level restaurants when they're on the menu)
- Beets
- Carrot cake
- White Castle

Things I like less than most:
- Avocado
- Watermelon
- Most forms of potato (I do like most forms, just not as much as most people. I'd prefer a 2nd sandwich to getting fries, for example)
- Sweet potato in any form
- Nuts on/in dessert items unless they are the focal point. Walnuts on or in brownies or carrot cake are terrible. But pecan pie is great.
- Pumpkin pie
- Licorice

What I wish I could eat endlessly:
- Pizza
- Chocolate chip cookies
- CFA spicy chicken biscuit sandwich with cheese
- Beer (I consume way too many empty calories with beer.)

Probably a lot of people like me who conveniently forgot to mention the late night Muchas Gracias runs, or a slice of pizza after the bars.....

I won’t order a torta at a taco place but I’ll bite the **** out of them if my wife and kids do. They are good.

That's a weird combination anyway because Falafel is Arabic and Tzatziki is Greek, but besides that I would count everything that the shop sells as a "Falafel Sandwich". Same goes for Gyro in my opinion.

And the American is a French thing with a cheeseburger and fries stuffed into a baguette right? While that sounds delicious, it’s a snarky jab at American obesity and will not be considered.
Yep, but the good ones use Merguez or steak and some kind of sauce instead of cheese.

I was just going to say that the bread is what makes the sandwich. Fillings are an afterthought. Unless you count things in pitas (shawarma, falafel, doner kebabs, etc.) as sandwiches, in which case it's all about the filling since pita is a low-tier bread.

Why not have just the bread then?

On second thought, an elite sandwich has both amazing bread and fillings, so much so that I will often removed the top bread and eat the sandwich open-faced in order to enjoy the delicious fillings without risk of them being obscured by the bread, while also being able to enjoy the delicious bread that stands on its own merits.

I will also eat a roti sandwich by unwrapping it and using the roti to pick up filling as if I were eating injera, ensuring I get proper proportion of roti to filling, and don't get bites of 4-6 layers of folder roti with no filling. I am less inclined to do this with a burrito, but I certainly have.

Ranking sandwiches by name/category is a fool's errand imo. There is far too much variance in how each is prepared to generalize to "similar" sandwiches.

You're missing out if you've never had a carnitas torta.
Obv get a few tacos to go with it though.

Potato good choice too. So delicious and filling.

Best sandwich is proper pastrami sandwich on rye.

Underrated is peanut butter. People take it's awesomeness for granted.

I'm fairly boring when it comes to my diet, I aim for daily:
1 pound vegetables
0.5 pound leafy green vegetables
1 pound meat
4 ounces mixed nuts
1-2 cups fruit

I usually have four eggs and a green smoothie for breakfast and then some kind of meat and vegetable for dinner. I hate snacking and cooking so I try to only have two meals a day. One meal a day would be my dream, but I eat really fast and the times I've tried it I overeat and feel awful.

I achieve my diet probably 5-6 a week with the other days eating fast food for dinner because I don't feel like cooking.

breakfast is usually cottage cheese and fruit. sometimes eggs, meat, and toast or potatoes.

lunch is lunch meet, cheese, and chips.

dinner is usually meet of chicken or pork. greens of broccoli, brussel sprouts, beans, and/or chard. starch of pasta, potatoes or rice. throw some marinated onions, peppers and garlic on the starch.

marinate the chicken in either white wine and soy, italian dressing, teriyaki or some sort of store bought marinade. soy vey is pretty good.

marinate pork in sherry and soy, teriyaki, or some store bought.

pasta usually with chicken and then butter or oil and parmesan.

thats proly 60-70% of my dinners.

have beef about once a week or 10 days. steak once a month. hamburger.

couple times a month I cook ground turkey into turkey burgers with coconut milk rice. or ground turkey with spices or tacos/burritos.

thats about 80% of my dinners.

I haven’t had a pizza bagel in many, many years, but they are definitely great!

Also samuri’s list was very inconsistent in style vs specific sandwich. Turkey, ham, and roast beef deli sandwiches each get their own listing, but po-boy gets one? No.

Here’s a better, but def incomplete, ranking:

Elite tier one sandwiches:
Combo pork banh mi
Reuben
Fried shrimp po-boy
Chicken parm
Rare cold roast beef
Pastrami on rye
Fried chicken
BLT(preferably BLTA)
Brisket (chopped or sliced)
Hot roast beef
Pulled pork
Grilled cheese

Honorable mention:
Italian sub
Cuban
Chicken salad

Can be good, but lol @ being in any rankings:
Club
Turkey deli
Ham deli
tuna salad
Peanut butter and jelly

Didn’t pass the “can eat on the go” sandwich test:
Italian beef
Sloppy joe
Cheesesteak
Meatball

Everything I eat at work is pretty standard

Breakfast is almost always 1/3 of a big tub of plain full Fat Fage + Scoop of Protein Powder + a few ounces of soy/almond/coconut milk. Occasionally Oats instead.

Pre Workout is a Big ~800 cal PB&J + 2 bananas

Post Workout is 300 cals split between carbs and protein

Lunch is leftover beef or chicken if I have it or cold cuts (turkey, chicken, beef), Leafy Greens, and a Veg (Broccoli, Brussel Sprouts, Asparagus) (Been Running Hummus + 90-10 Ground Beef + Veg as a bowl lately not to shabby)

Dinner varies alot, usually 6-8oz meat + Potato/Rice/Pasta + Veg

Trying to gain weight, so looking to put down around 3,500 cals, After Dinner I'm eating to his fill in the macros, cottage cheese, nuts, wheat chex are the big players.

Generally a decent list, but GTFO with the idea that a cheesesteak doesn't pass the "can eat on the go" test, but a meatball sub does.

Cold cuts are something everyone has a preference between, and so they must be ranked. All po boys are fried and breaded seafood. My list>yours.
Side note I ate a Monte Cristo at a Bennigans in Austin once when I was 16, and I still recall how much it sucked. So that’s why that’s on the list.

Exactly this, and add both shrimp po boy and pulled pork to that list.

All of these can be eaten on the go. Not everyone has the skillz to do it tho.
