There's too many other great tasting fish for me to have great afinity for swordfish. I feel the same way about shark.

Great thread idea, really interesting to see what people do.

If I'm being at all careful about what I eat, I do tend to get fairly routine. Weekday breakfast is a couple of slices of salami or deli ham, a slice of cheese and coffee. If I'm feeling indulgent I'll get a bacon/egg/cheese biscuit. On the weekends I'll usually make something egg-based, a favorite is a bowl with scrambled eggs, a bit of cheese, some chopped bacon and an avocado. Maybe some hash browns.

Lunch during the week is usually out. I'll get breakfast food if I can. Qdoba/Chipotle is another go-to option. Chick-Fil-A or Lee's Fried Chicken if I happen to be close to one. On the weekend lunch is likely to be something leftover or just a snack.

For dinner during the week I like to have something that's easy. I'll make and freeze a batch of soup or stew or pinto beans and have a bowl of that. Or a sandwich.

Friday night growing up was always pizza night and that's a hard habit to shake. I still do that a lot, ending up with some leftover slices for weekend lunches.

I don't drink much other than coffee, water and the occasional beer. I like wine but it doesn't like me. Real lemonade as a treat. Gave up soda years ago other than occasional root beer for a root beer float.

Not much of a sweet tooth. I'll eat desserts but try not to buy them and ~ never order one when eating out.

I don't eat much salad at home, it's never as good as a good restaurant salad. Most other food is the reverse, I prefer common foods prepared at home b/c often I use better quality ingredients.

Is it just me or does most of the members who have posted so far about their habits seem super healthy?

I'm one of the more boring, regular food crowd. Food's just fuel to me, I don't care to spend large amounts of time/money on something fancy.

That's not to say I like bland, just plain. So mostly:

Breakfast: cereal weekdays, typically Cheerios-type stuff. Bacon/sausage, eggs, bagel weekends.

Lunch: Sandwich, chips, coke. Like Didace, rarely condiments or cheese, usually ham or turkey & bread.

Dinner: Grill up something most of the time (burgers, chicken, steak, pork chops, etc) and have a side of potatoes or make some of those package-in-a-pouch things. For anyone who hasn't tried it, season grill stuff with Lawry's, yum.

Don't do very well at eating veggies. Will often get a salad when eating out (which is rare-ish), but mostly meat & taters person.

Not so much for dessert. Rarely, I'll have some ice cream. Will frequently (probably too much) have a couple beers in the evening.

Not surprising I guess, as I'm a pretty boring homebody in most ways.

I forgot to mention, I'll go through about two grocery store rotisserie chickens a week. I usually eat one half, shred the other for chicken salad for lunch the next day, or my absolute favorite.... Shredded chicken & Hooters brand buffalo wings sauce and a dollop of sour cream on top.

The "sandwiches without condiments" thing is kind of amazing to me. If I were just going to eat bread and meat I think I'd prefer them separately over together.

I don't eat meat, fish, or eggs, and I continue to try to give up dairy, but it's a struggle. I can go for weeks or months, no problem, but it's my comfort food when things go wrong. It's also enormously easier when eating out to allow some cheese or butter, because it's usually the difference between being able to order off the menu or having to request that they customize something for me.

I eat 4 times a day and it generally looks like this:

1) smoothie of banana, vanilla soy milk, nutritional yeast, and flaxseed
2) oatmeal with walnuts and fruit or sauteed tofu with tomatoes and spinach (sometimes on Saturday I'll indulge in fried potatoes with bell peppers and onions)
3) some kind of soup/chili/curry/stew that I cook a big batch of and then eat for a week. I especially like split pea soup, roasted tomato, or apple pumpkin soup, panang tofu curry, and tomato lentil stew.
4) varies a lot, depending upon how healthily I'm eating at the time. My most frequent dinners are either a salad topped with chickpeas, whole wheat pasta tossed with frozen stir fry veggies, sesame oil, and soy sauce, mushroom fajitas, or black bean burritos.

However, while my first three meals tend to stay the same, I'm also perfectly capable of eating french fries and a coke zero for dinner, or a veggie hot dog topped with canned chili, or too much pizza. I aim for around 1800 cals a day but some days I'm way over or occasionally way under.

Yeah I forgot to mention I drink a lot of Diet Coke. It's a very refreshing beverage.

I can understand swordfish being boring, but I guess I'm really into texture sometimes, and for certain uses it is perfect. Basically blackened in soft tacos.

Drives my wife crazy that I eat the same thing virtually every night. I call it a tuna humus wrap:

Large burrito sized tortilla
Regular humus
Large amount of romaine letucce
1 can tuna
A ton of Sriracha

Beyond that M-F:
Red peppers
Fibre one bars
String cheese

Weekend:

Whatever my wife wants

My default weekday breakfast is a hash brown, one sausage, a piece of fruit and a glass of milk except for "Waffle Wednesday" when I replace the hash brown with a waffle w/syrup.

I have pizza every Tuesday night. I grill every Sunday night cycling through chicken, steak, sausages and cheeseburgers.

Beverages: I drink milk for breakfast, water for lunch, soda for dinner and milk for dessert. Coffee only at night before dessert. However, if I eat breakfast out I'll have coffee.

As a kid I use to love both blood pudding and pigs feet. Now I know better and won't go near either.

Ever try canned sardines? They are similar texture and nutritional profile to tuna without the mercury issues. Also more sustainably fished if you care about that. I like the taste better also.

ETA: I’m kind of insufferable about sardine promotion. I’ll try to keep it under control here but I am seriously considering getting a sardine tattoo to troll my real life friends who are sick of hearing it.

I'm the 1 guy in 10000 for whom 120 lbs is a reasonable weight at 5'11, though I eat about as unhealthy as it's possible to eat while maintaining that weight. Breakfast is always toast and butter with a topping that rotates every 5 months or so (peanut butter, pate, sliced boiled egg).
I find i'm rarely satisfied by a meal that doesn't include some form of bread.

Lunch/dinner (I very rarely have both) is a burger or pizza ~4x/week and stew/fish cakes/bangers and mash/something similar the rest of the time. If i get pizza i'll usually get a 12 inch and eat that and nothing else over 2 days. I drink more than I probably should which accounts for 3-4k of my ~9.5k calories/week. Non alcoholic fluids are 90% mineral water which i've developed a taste for somehow, 4% coke, 4% diet coke and 2% other.

I'll definitely try this. Tuna is kind of a protein filler in this meal; not a lot of flavor but I'd hate to not have protein in my regular diet.

Good call foatie, my kids live off of rotisserie chicken mixed with box rice pilaf after school. I finish the drums and underneath parts.

Always yes -- Grits, congee, salami, pork ribs, pea shoots from the local Chinese restaurant, sardines, brussel sprouts, pho, biscuits with country ham, grapefruit juice, pineapple

Always no -- beets, grocery store mayo, drinking milk (perfectly fine for cooking)

Pho ga is delicious and I’ll over eat it every time I get the chance.

There is a grocery store near my office which is similar to a Whole Foods has a ridic salad bar.

Spinach, mixed greens, grilled chicken, couple scoops of ground boiled egg, red bell peppers, broccoli, scoop of kidney beans, scoop of garbanzo beans, spoon of blue cheese crumbles, shake of sunflower seeds, shake of almond slivers, shake of walnuts, a few different types of olives and a couple squirts of balsamic vinaigrette.

Sometimes I commute to the office solely because I want to eat that for lunch.

Also, tacos are not over rated even though I hate how ouch people talk about them.

El d,

100% correct on the melted cheese examples. A really well executed cheese enchiladas is hard to beat also.

Johnny,

I'm somewhat of a convert in regards to sardines. After chatting with you about it I have probably replaced 75% of my tuna consumption with sardines.
