I know this might be a little different but i am freaking out and wondering if anybody else dealt with my problem, which im going to explain. I have an appointment with my eye doctor on Monday but this is on my mind bigtime right now.

Im 30, have had glasses for 20 yrs. I have probably had these glasses i use now for 7 yrs. I havent had an eye exam probably since then.
-As of id say 2 months ago, all of a sudden my vision went to crap. I cant even use the internet and read without struggling. I will explain what my vision is like now
-If i look at just normal writing online it is not just blurry, but the word im looking at, i see it double hovering over it, like a ghost image,
-If i look at an object upclose like my finger i will see 2 of them. if i look at an object like a foot or more away It will just be blurry and id have to squint to see it properly.
-IF i cover my left eye and only use my right one the double vision goes away but i have to squint to read anything and its not comfortable
-IF i cover my right eye and use just the left then EVERYTHING IS BLURRY to the point i cant squint or anything i cant even read this message i writing now not even a foot away. Everything looks like how a camera gets"out of focus" if you know what i mean?

IVe been squinting like crazy and getting headaches cuz of this i imagine. I am hoping i could just simply go take an eye exam and get a new prescription and get new glasses and see clear again? Does that seem like itd be standard? Or could t be something serous where i need lazer surgeory or something? HAve any of you guys gone thru this before? If so what was it like?

I'm also going to have to get my vision checked as I just started seeing double. When I cover up my left eye, I can see an identical thread in H&F.

I get paranoid over this crap i was thinking of going to the hosptial and not wait till monday but im not in any pain or anything, just strain when i squint so much and standard headaches.. but seeing double is weird and annoying and worrisome i tell you that.

7 years is a long time to go without having an exam and changing your prescription. I've worn glasses for around 10 years and changed my prescription 3 times. Go get another exam, I'm sure you will need a new set of lens.

Seeing your eye doctor on Monday and see what he says is the proper first step.

If he isn't finding anything out of the ordinary and/or a new set of lens isn't fixing the problem, then you would want to go see a regular doctor ASAP. Could be another health condition affecting the optic nerve. But it seems highly unlikely that your eye doctor wouldn't be able to figure out the problem.

I would just relax for now until your appointment.

Seeing double seems significant mentally, but for someone who has vision problems their entire life and hasn't gone to an eye doctor in 7 years, I wouldn't freak out yet.

Ask your ophthalmologist about corneal cross-linking treatment.

As in, google Keratoconus. I have it. One day I noticed I wasn't able to read Pokerstars chip stacks amounts that I had been able to read before. Go to an eye doctor, if they don't think anything is wrong you probably want to get a second opinion too.

Yup. But I didn't want to scare OP with a big word.

OP,
Get a referral to an ophthalmologist for a full work up.

I'm one cornea replacement in and considering another. I didn't catch it early.

Im terrified with my eyes right now. I went to the doctor today and took tests and stuff for like 90 minutes, HE confirmed i have Keratoconus. He told me theres 0% chance it can be cotrected with any type of lens or perscrption and i need to see a Keratoconus expert, to handle just my case, i am going thursday or friday. He told me most likely i will have to get some sort of surgery where they put me to sleep and do their thing and if its successful then i womt even need glasses anymore. Thats the best case scenario. Then if it doesnt then i will get certain lenses for just reading or computer. IF its something that cant be fixed and is very rare then i might need a cornea eye transplant which sounds real serious and scary.. If thats the case then i need lazer eye treatment. Of course they tell me not to freakout and it has a high succesfate but im worried of course

So can you tell me what happened with you? I cant read chipstacks infront of me either unless i squint real hard and move head near screen. I cant even play online poker now and thats my job. Anyway what kind of treatment did you get? Were you able to see clearly afterwards? Glasses or no glasses? What type of surgery? Please tell me it was not painful? I really would love to hear from someone like you who has what i just got diagnosed with. ID really value your opinion right now.

welcome to the club
Where are you located? Look for a cornea specialist.
